A documentary, One Nine Nine Four, chronicling "punk" music in the early ninties (and including interviews with Green Day (http://www.absolutepunk.net/greenday), Bad Religion (http://www.absolutepunk.net/badreligion), Lagwagon (http://www.absolutepunk.net/lagwagon), Rancid (http://www.absolutepunk.net/rancid), and blink-182 (http://www.absolutepunk.net/blink182)) will be released sometime next year (http://www.spin.com/features/news/2007/04/070402_punkdoc/).

I guess that this will be a straight to dvd thing yes? Or perhaps limited release in theaters? I wonder how old these interviews are too... Hopefully they're new!

RTFA. Seriously, it's like 5 sentences. Your questions are answered.
Really looking forward to this. As someone on punknews pointed out, the title's kinda lame. No offense to 1994 (the above user or the year).

Indeed.
Cheshire Cat was released in '94, along with a slew of other albums that defined that era "punk"-wise: Green Day's Dookie, Bad Religion's Stranger Than Fiction, Rancid's Let's Go, NOFX's Punk in Drublic, The Offspring's Smash, and so on.

I am so glad someone is finally doing a documentary about this time in music. When I was in high school I remember going to Berkeley Square and seeing bands like Skankin Pickle, Operation Ivy, Green Day, AFI, Pennywise, and Rancid. A lot of the time they'd be on the same bill. Gilman, Berkeley Square, and places like that were great spots to see history in the making back then.

I get excited when I hear about some new involving blink-182 nowadays. This is the "punk" music most of us grew up on so this should be very interesting and nostalgic.

Isn't a similar documentary in the works called Punk's Not Dead? I know it's not focusing on the 1994 explosion, but I think all the mentioned artists are being interview for that one as well.

I would love hear old ones though too.

this is kinda off topic but not really...i've always wondered if the guys in blink still kept in touch with bands like pennywise who helped them out early on in their careers. anyone know the answer?
as for the film, it should be interesting.

Everybody stop worrying about Offspring. As much as I don't like them they are definitely included in teh documentary. I know for a fact Jai (Dude making film) has already interviewed Dexter.
