oh man gil norton, weeeeeeee

colour and the shape is so timeless. i can only hope he takes them back to somewhere like they used to. a little less mainstream, a bit more refreshing would be terrific.

what do you mean a little less mainstream? They have always been mainstream. Their first cd had several big singles on it. I like them and am not saying they are bad. Just saying they have always been mainstrem.

very true... when i saw them dave said he was going to show as much rock and roll up our asses as possible in the next two hours. he sure did show a lot of rock and roll up there.

Their live shows are fairly rediculious. If you have a chance to see their Dvd Everywhere but Home...do it. It's rad. Love C&S and hope their new album comes close to that.

It's ironic how they approached RCA with TINLTL completed in Dave's basement and have managed to grow substantially bigger since. It's one thing to play in front of 3000 kids every night, and quite another to be opening for Bob Dylan and headlining Reading Festival.

I remember reading about the recording of TCATS and how Gil Norton was a bit of a slave-driver; insisting the band re-record songs 30-45 times each after they had already nailed successive takes.
This tension lead to the departure of William as their original drummer ( well touring drummer, since Dave had done all the drum recordings on the self-titled) and forced Dave to resume drum recording duties for yet another album. Given the uncertainty surrounding the band during previous recording sessions (Travis' OD during 1X1, the numerous times Dave has contemplated packing it in), I REALLY hope the success of IYH and two successful summers of touring that album have solidified a newfound confidence in them and they'll commit to sticking around for a while. For a line-up made up of ex-members of some great groups (Nirvana, Sunny Day Real Estate, Late, Scream, No Use, hell even Alanis Morrisette's touring band) the sum has really outgrown it's parts. Here's to another 10 years of Foo.

They're great within the context of the rest of the album (IMO); however, I'm bias as I think they're one of the greatest bands making music. I love everything they do.
