Yeah nice job on Joe's part. I dont know why they trusted Hall in the first place. The guy is a hack.

And if he had food poisoning, wouldnt he have contacted TNA and told them he could make it?

damn, just finished watching turning point. joe is awesome. i read that he was looking at dixie carter, when he said go ahead fire me. and also that they had a meeting today and dixie carter said that anyone who wanted their release could have it on the spot and low ki took it. damn.

Haha. The shot at TNA and Scott Hall when Kennedy thanked "Razor Ramon" for actually showing up was funny.

So I just happen to turn on RAW, the second Lilian said "hired protection", I knew the APA was on their way out. When the music hit, I started laughing. Ahhh, so funny. Not quite the good old days, but close enough.

i just want to comment on the "worked shoot" promo given by Joe.

i was just like you guys with the "yeah joe RULES!" but then when i gave it more thought i smell Vince Russo all over this. He did this in WCW too putting over Booker and Jarrett.

i think it puts the company down for making bad business decisions by putting Hall in a Main Event Situation with his reputation.

Hopefully this is the "Turning Point" for TNA

Kif
12/05/07, 08:38 PM
He did it at Bash Of The Beach when Hulk no-showed I think.

As "worked" as it was, even if it was a work, everything Joe said is true. Nash has been free-loading off the the X Division for a long time now, and couldn't put any of them over (Except Black Machismo). Kurt Angle hasn't put ANYONE over. VKM won't either. Hell they beat MCMG in 90 seconds! The only people I can think who actually do want to work with "TNA originals" is Christian and Tomko. Team 3D maybe, but no one cares about Team 3D anyway so that doesn't matter.

I'm glad to see Low Ki leaving, if he really did. ROH return would be very nice.

I'm really curious as to just how serious the beef is between Nash and Joe. Supposedly, they're truly not on good terms now after the supposed altercation between the two backstage after the shoot/match. I agreed with some of what Joe said, but regardless of how much of it was work or shoot, he didn't need to dog Kevin Nash in front the PPV buyers.

Joe can call Nash "old" all he wants, but if I was Nash I woulda been like "I may be 20 years older, but at least I'm better shape". (lol). I like Joe but I'm sick of him believing his own hype. Just because he's over in TNA, doesn't mean he's over with the rest of the wrestling audience, because the vast majority of wrestling fans look at him and say to themselves..."This guy is the future of the business???"

Yeah, it was actually a hell of a lot better than their match at Wrestlemania, too. If it's not the match of the year from WWE, then it's definitely a candidate.

lol. yeah that makes me laugh all the time! its like the camera guy is laying on his back sometimes. and on a somewhat related note, i also find it comical how the commentators exaggerate heights of ladders/cages/falls so frequently. they say something like "so and so just fell right of the ladder! that mustve been 20 feet. but clearly when the wrestler stands next to it, hes like 3/4 the height of the ladder making it 10 at most. buuutttt i understand its all to play it up for the home audience, so i dont have a problem with it, i just think its funny.

Not as good as '92, but still awesome.

As for the midget and the giant. Vince likes extremes, tall and huge, short and tiny. It will never change, don't get too worked up about it.

That was pretty fun. I don't think I've marked out more recently than when RVD's music hit. The Trips/Steph stuff was funny, Ted DiBiase will always be awesome, the Cody/Dusty celebration was a nice moment, Jannetty seemed coke out but he was still pretty good in the ring, the Trish/Lita segment was cool and the Lita/Kane/Simmons backstage moment was pure gold, and then ending pretty much delivered exactly what we all expected. Definitely the best Raw in recent memory.

Wow, 8 days without a post.

I have only watched a little bit of Armageddon online, but RAW last week was pretty decent. I enjoyed the Ric Flair vs. Umaga match. Also I enjoyed seeing Santino Marella & Carlito as a tag team.

gail kim vs kong from last night was good

Goodbye Forever
01/07/08, 06:08 PM
That's the one thing TNA has going for them right now... Their women's division is really solid. Kim, Kong, ODB, Jackie, Roxxi... As long as they don't pretend Christy Hemme is actually a wrestler (and maybe bring in one more legit wrestler, perhaps getting Molly Holly out of retirement) the division should remain the most entertaining part of the fed.

Edit: I just read through the results, and apparently Shelly Martinez debuted last night. That should be another boost.

Kif
01/07/08, 07:56 PM
Yeah, she hit Christy and stripped. Truly a great moment for women's wrestling. In all seriousness she was awesome at BFG, so I can't wait for her to get in the ring more. And yeah Kong/Kim was just vicious. First time I've seen a women's match like that.

there's no way hardy or mysterio will win tonight. so that means they're going to have orton will go into wrestlemania with the belt. i could see HHH winning, i could see michaels winning. i just watched the entire miachaels dvd including match footage, so i'm kind of on an hbk high right now. i'm hoping he wins and goes into wm and wins. chances of that happening, i'm not sure.

its obvious that flair will continue to win until wrestelemania. thats been obvious since day one.

there's only 5 matches onthe card, so i just hope and pray that they give all of them the time they need to evolve and develop. because its a solid card - one of the best in months. i'm excited.

As for tonight, both champions come out on top (although putting Hardy/Orton last and having Jeff win in MSG establishes him as a money star, plus he can lose the rematch at the next PPV since Orton is definitely going to be in the title match at WM... Just wishful thinking), Flair wins thanks to Matt Hardy (Flair isn't losing but a clean job for MVP right now would be an awful move), JBL/Jericho ends by DQ one way or the other, and Trips is probably taking the Rumble, with Punk as a darkhorse. Final Four: Trips, Punk, Dave, Taker.

Vincewithouthee
01/27/08, 02:18 PM
It's probably gonna be HHH winning the rumble. I can't imagine anyone else, since heels never win Rumbles but that'd be nice to see I think. Big Show I heard lost around 100lbs or more and it's gonna be interesting to see how he looks. I'd like to see him return tonight most likely as a heel.

Hardy isn't gonna win the title, neither will Rey no way. Hardy may eventually get it in the long run but Taker's destined to get the title at WM yet obviously.

I like how this was just posted like last week:

Source: TheSun.co.uk

"The Sun" UK newspaper has conducted an exclusive interview with John Cena. Despite recent rumors that he is trying to return ahead of schedule in time for WrestleMania, Cena revealed that he will NOT be competing at WrestleMania 24 and that he will probably not return to WWE until shooting for his new movie wraps up at the end of May.

Here are the highlights:

-- John Cena will "definitely NOT" be competing at WrestleMania 24

-- Regarding an appearance at WrestleMania: “I most likely will be at WrestleMania in some capacity, but you probably won't see me on camera.

-- The good news for Cena's fans is he will almost certainly return to action as soon as shooting is over. The bad news is: “The movie will take up the bulk of my time through to US Memorial Day, which is at the end of May."

-- Physical Therapy: “I do four to six hours of physical therapy each day. My goal is get back into the ring as soon as possible. I'm sick of sitting on the sidelines."

-- His Upcoming Movie: “I'm actually moving to New Orleans in one week and spending some time with the police there, to learn how to be a better cop as that's what the film is about."

And now...Cena's winning the Rumble. Will Triple H ever be able to beat John Cena in a big match?

Oh I agree 100%. I wasn't a huge fan of his at first, but he grew on me. You've got to respect what he does.Yeah when he first came over from WCW his mic skills weren't very good but he got better extremely fast and once he added some muscle he was bound to be a star. The problem is that they failed to develop the few stars they found because they were impatient and have put too much stock in steroid freaks like Batista who have no wrestling ability and zero mic skills. And then once they realized these guys weren't drawing well they started reaching for guys who were stars in the 90s who who could do both like HBK. Now they're stuck with stars that are too old and younger guys who can't draw or don't have talent.

Also, they need to go back to their late 90s style where they actually developed story lines, as well as characters, and let them play out over a long period of time. They've got so many ppv's now that they end up condensing what could be great 5-6 month stories into 3 weeks so they'll have a spot to fill on a garbage non-elite ppv that no one will order. This is why Wrestlemania isn't really that big of a deal anymore because when they were good story lines for the championship match, as well as most of the under card, would start the previous fall and then escalate at the Royal Rumble leading to huge anticipation for WM. Now every match, including championship matches, are thrown together the month or two before and generate less interest.

I'm actually about ready for another lengthy Triple H title run. I'm sick of Orton being the champ. He's boring on the mic and in the ring. Cena was already champ for what seemed like three years straight. I've actually been enjoying WWE a lot more since he's been gone. I don't know if the writing has been better or what, but it was just nice not seeing him in the spotlight for once. So, right now, I'm thinking Triple H is the best option.

Since the Money In the Bank ladder match will be back this year, I hope somebody new wins it. I like seeing new people in the main event, especially if they wind up being better than expected. I was hoping for something like that with the Royal Rumble this year, but...yeah. You know how that turned out.

I don't think Cena will be the champ for a while. People will pay to see him chase the title, so I hope they hold off (Not because I hate Cena since I don't, I want to see him chase the title as much as the casual WWE fan). As for Orton, I dig him. He and Jeff have had a great chemistry in the ring.

Actually I'm pretty happy with WWE at the moment. I really hope this year CM Punk gets bumped up to SD! He and Edge could have an epic feud.

It's unfortunate that Smackdown got moved to Friday nights because the booking on the show is tremendous and not enough people get to see what talented bookers/writers can do with the talent in the company. MVP/Hardy was the best feud of 2007 for my money (and hopefully will continue in 2008), the Edge/Taker/Batista stuff has been great, Chavo/Rey has been spectacular, and even some of the smaller feuds (Noble/Palumbo, Yang-Moore/Miz-Morrison) have been built fantastically.

Remember this:

I_mB9f_4iNs

Last I remember back when Evolution was a stable, before these dudes became the huge fan favorites they are today, they were a huge heel. the cheers for Evolution during the 15th Anniversary proved to me those guys would have a hard time convincing fans to turn over and boo them.

As Monday showed though, Cena would make a GREAT heel. Crowd fucking hates him. He kind of had to improv when they started booing saying he sucks. Which I thought he did decently and I think he would make a much better heel since people fucking hate him and he can do a good job with pissing fans off by just coming out to the ring.

Kif
01/30/08, 07:51 AM
To be fair in the same night Trips had 3 segments with the McMahons, DX and Evolution. It was hardly an episode people watched for story, they just watched for their appreciation of how long Raw has been on.

If Cena wins the title and turns heel though, I would be really happy about that.

i dont think wwe has any plans to make cena a heel but after mondays reaction, they should seriously consider it. it would be the weirdest reason to turn a guy heel - because the fans are simply tired of him. which just shows you how smart modern fans are compared to the past.

i would love to see them do a great cena heel turn, because he could really generate some heat. and the only person doing that on the raw roster right now is orton.

The boos are getting bad for Cena that they can't even pump applause into the crowd for the people watching at home to think he's over. "Cena Sucks!" chants? Count me in for those. Probably one of the smartest crowds, especially the day after the Rumble. I bet WWE was really surprised to have him come out expecting a huge pop. Yeah, I just saw their bulletin on Myspace about it. That's incredibly awesome. If those matches are anywhere near as good as that match from last year, then I'll want to see them for sure.

i heard about the hogan challenge and that people on here dont care for him. i will agree that he starts all of his matches wil a head lock then body checks them then poses. im a huge hogan fan. he still does do the same stuff from the 80s but he can still fill an arena. john cena wont be able to do that in 20 years. idk what the prob would be with the hulkster at mania. they really dont have any good matches set. put him in there. that would put wm on the tvs of folks at home. i know i would buy it.

Rob Van Dam was at WonderCon, charging $25 to take a polaroid with him, or $20 if you had your own camera.

I passed.

Because Hogan won't put Flair over at all in his last match. At least if Flair has his last match against HBK, like I've been hearing, then at least he can have a solid match. If I have the choice between Hogan or HBK, I'm going to pick HBK.

oh i agree 100%. i think after they eliminated each other in the rumble, it was the perfect setup for an epic match. but of course, nobody capitalizes.

EvilButters
02/24/08, 08:15 PM
I didn't see this year's Rumble at all, but from what I heard it sounded pretty good up until Cena came out as number thirty. I was really impressed with last year's rumble, when it was down to Taker and HBK. They put on a hell of a show. I just think they need to feud one more time before they both retire.

chokeychicken
02/25/08, 02:31 AM
i agree. basically they both eliminated each other towards the end and the first thing i thought was that they were going to fued leading up to the rumble. i was thinking taker should have lost at no way out and gotten so pissed he showed up during the RAW chamber and cost HBK the match, assuming it was down to him and HHH or something. that would have been fucking phenomenal. its unfortunate i'm not booking the WWE.

EvilButters
02/25/08, 06:13 AM
That would have been pretty awesome. I have to admit though a part of me does want to see Edge/Taker at Wrestlemania. If done right, that could be quite good. I have a feeling WWE is just going to half ass it though and I'll probably be disappointed with it. I'm also kind of hoping Kane will get a decent title run before he retires. I think he deserves it. I think he only held the title for a day when he did actually have it...

Jericho better fucking get that fucking belt soon or I am done watching Raw.

him and Kennedy were the only two bright spots last night with any sort of skills to cut a decent promo. I'm glad Orton is so fucking bad at talking and able to hold the belt. What idiots.

I also think its fucking stupid how they had matches with Jericho and Hardy last night, two guys that are both so over, the crowd didn't know who to cheer for, little boys and teen girls wanted Hardy and all the old heads wanted Jericho.

Then they set up a match with Umaga and DH Smith? Yeah wonderful. No one gives a shit about that fat fuck.

lol @ this floyd mayweather shitHaving pro athletes wrestle has never worked in these things and I'm not sure why they keep doing it. They should've learned from the first time when they had Lawrence Taylor face King Kong Bundy at WM 11. Coincidentally that has been unanimously voted as the worst WM ever by everyone who has seen it.

The buyrates involving celebs or pro-athletes are massive, that's why.Having them wrestle always turns out to be a disaster. The more they continue to do it the less people will care. And everyone knows Big Show is going to put him over and the quality of the match will be horrendous. Then again, the card they've put together sucks so I guess they need this match to gain some interest.

I agree it's horrible, but the Donald Trump involvement last year drew big money for them. It's a shame but I imagine we'll get at least 1 celeb angle a year.

I agree it's horrible, but the Donald Trump involvement last year drew big money for them. It's a shame but I imagine we'll get at least 1 celeb angle a year.I just find it weird that there's people out there who will buy it now because of that. It just goes to show how far the product itself has fallen that they need celebrities to be heavily involved in matches to generate interest. And last year there wasn't one person who thought Donald Trump was gonna have his head shaved. When something gets that predictable is it really worth watching? Then again, I haven't bothered to buy a WM in a few years because they started to suck so bad it wasn't worth it. I still say the last good one was 17 even though I suffered through the next three after that.

Edit: The only interest I have in this year's is the stage design since it's outdoors again. When they had WM 9 at Caesar's in Vegas, even though the matches weren't great, it was still awesome to see that setup and actually saved it from being a bad event for me.

finally got around to watching raw. man, that jericho/hardy match was one of the sloppiest things i've ever seen. also, i really want to see an outstanding flair promo one more time before he goes. you know, the ones where he takes off his clothes and runs around screaming and his face is boiling. i was hoping when michaels refused the match at WM originally, flair would flip and say "TO BE THE MAN YOU GOTTA BE THE MAN, WOO!"

didn't happen.

and of course they're not going to elevate a young star by having him beat flair. they'll let michaels do it.

so, i've never been in this thread and i haven't watched 'professional' wrestling in probably 6 years. i was going through some old VHS tapes converting them to DVD and i found all my old raw, smackdown and ppv tapes. what the hell happened to the WWE?! the angles with the ministry and austin - i think, being put on the undertaker's cross above the jumbotron to finish a monday night raw. that stuff was gold. maybe it was because i was a teen but i was hooked. once the brands "expanded" i lost interest. then one random night i turn on raw or something and see vince mcmahon blown up in a limo. the next week benoit kills his family and himself.

jesus christ. i miss the old days. rock and sock connection ftw!

It wasnt King Kong Bundy, it was Bam Bam Bigelow. But I totally agree with you.

It doesnt make sense although this between Mayweather and Show will be a new generation's version of LT vs Bam Bam

By getting out while he was still relevant and close enough to his peak he didn't leave room for people to look at him as a guy like HBK or Flair who just hung on way too long.

HBK is holding on too long?

i agree with flair, but its flair and the greatest of all time can do what he wants.
