If there's one thing about horror movies it's that they almost always have good trailers. We'll see when it comes out.

I really had my doubts when I first heard about this. The original is a classic and one of the greatest horror films of all time. I was a bit skeptical hearing news about the script and the cast, but as pictures hit the web every week or so...I liked what I saw. This trailer just makes me more excited for the film and while my doubts are still there...they're taking a back seat to the rising anticipation I've gained for this film. I'll definitely be seeing this.

Here's my post from Horror-101.com (http://horror-101.com) about the trailer:

Stepping into the theater for Grindhouse tonight, the feature was not the only thing I was looking forward to. I was also very curious to see to see the trailer for Rob Zombie’s upcoming Halloween. Excited for a remake of my favorite film? You bet. Although I know most remakes are just made to cash in due to a lack of originality, I know Zombie is passionate about the film and the genre in general. That, coupled with the fact that I was blown away by The Devil’s Rejects, gives me complete faith in Zombie’s reinvisioning.

Did my mind change after viewing the trailer? Not in the least. At a glance, it may seem like every recent horror trailer with that movie trailer guy’s “creepy” voiceover, but in a minute and a half, we see both young and adult Michael Myers doing what he does best: reeking havoc and terrorizing teens. We even hear classic Sam Loomis diction (by Malcolm McDowell) and the legendary theme, virtually unchanged. I was particularly happy to see that one of my favorite scenes from the original, Michael disguised by a bedsheet and glasses, was included.

Now that Grindhouse (which was fantastic, by the way) is out, Halloween is officially my most anticipated movie. I’ll see you August 31st. Until then, watch the trailer here (http://mediaframe.yahoo.com/buildlist.asp?p=movies&f=1809784517&type=t&t=Halloween&id=1568802-187487&m=wmv&r=1000&l=SAV) and judge for yourself.

I'm such a huge fan of the Halloween movies (the earlier ones) and this looks pretty good so far.

It does look like the violence and brutality factor has definitely increased in terms of the methodical original. I know that's somewhat to be expected, but he does some major damage in the trailer.

I love when it shows him carrying her down the street - she gets me every time.

Looks sweet, but why is this being released in August and not on Halloween? I mean, look at how well that shitty The Omen remake did when being released on 6/6/06, you'd think they'd do the same thing for this remake, just seems logical.

I don't think Zombie can pull it off.

dvd sales at halloween is all i can think of.

there's enough hype for the movie to do well whether it's released in august or october, but it'll be easier to promote the dvd around halloween as opposed to january or february.

if that's the plan, that's a little quick for the dvd release, but i can't think of any other reason. unless they're hoping it does well enough to stick around in theaters for eight weeks and get another surge, but anymore that really doesn't seem possible.

Maybe they don't want to compete with Saw 4? There's been a new Saw movie at Halloween for the past 3 years, and let's face it, the last few Halloween movies have been far from successful.

But the last two Saw films were far from good.

But they have made a shitload of money and are very cheap and apparently quick to make.

Those two reasons would be my guess as to why Halloween is coming out in August. I can see why people didn't like Saw II, but I enjoyed III. If Saw IV takes the prequel route, then I believe I'll be enjoying Halloween more than Saw IV. I like the Saw films and I'm a horror movie fan in general, but I'm just not big on prequels.

I hate it when they call it a prequel, when its really not a prequel at all. They spend 5-10 minutes on backstory, ala TCM The Beginning, and then its back to the generic slasher flick.

Have their ever been any horror movies about Thanksgiving? There should be one for every holiday. Flag Day would be pretty intense.

This movie should be good. I trust it in the hands of Zombie because he is such a huge fan that I don't think he would drastically change it.

this movie looks incredible. i feel like im actually going to be scared again. halloween was the last horror movie that ever actually scared me, and im hoping for the same thing this time around. i completely trust Rob Zombie to accurately mold this and not make it into some kind of Omen-type remake, and i always have. when i went to see the 10th anniversary screening in October, they had a featurette before the actual film and the way Zombie described it, i could just tell that he was a true fan and wanted to preserve what made the movie such a classic, but still make it into something new and exciting, and truly make it his own.

needless to say, this is #1 on my most anticipated movies list.
