New York-based pop-rock act The Morning Of (http://www.themorningof.com) have been forced to cancel two performances this weekend due to transportation issues.
We're really sorry, but we're not going to be able to make the Talent Farm show (4/7) and the Tarpon Springs show (4/8). We apologize from the bottom of our hearts, but tonight, our van nearly killed us. Chris and I were driving back from the mechanics, en route to pick up our stuff from our good friend Peaches and Worth's (who let us stay with them while our van was being fixed). I was driving, and we heard a popping noise, and in the blink of an eye, our van was filled with smoke. I slammed the brakes, and we jumped out (our locks didn't work, i had to pull it out), and as we ran out, our van exploded. We are very thankful to god and allah that we are ok, and that we will be able to continue making music. We're so sorry we won't be able to see your beautiful faces this weekend, but we'll be in florida and georgia soon, we promise. Untill then, please keep in touch, we'll have a video and picture update very soon. All our other dates are still on, so please come out and give us hugs. Love- Abir and The Morning Of

That's not a 'joke', for the record.

Abir is muslim, I believe.

I told them to stay safe driving down, because I'd heard about the van troubles. Glad they're all ok... Ah this sucks.

Eek! Van troubles are nothing new, but explosions? Wow. I wonder if like a fuel line popped or something? They should try to figure it out and see if those mechanics were at fault.

really nice guys, my bandmate helped them here in sugar land with my bandmate while this EXACT same van had broken down in houston and they were stuck for several days trying to sell their EP in our local mall food court to raise some cash.
huge bummer, but good to hear they're doing ok.
