Who here likes The Sopranos? I think this seasons gonna turn out really good.
Tonights episode was awesome...it was funny and nasty as well. I was so shocked when Vido was sucking that security guards dick! And when they smashed the bottle over that dudes face...crazy.
I hope Meadows boyfriend gets killed...that little prude bitch. I bet he's gonna hook up with that girl Felicia and when Tony finds out they off him.

After this season they are doing one more short season of only about 10 episodes...and that will be the end of it all.
I predict the series will end with Tony going to jail for life.

Season 5 so far hasn't been as good as i thought it would be. Steve Buchemi(however it's spelled)'s character is the worst. What is with tony and that old broad, it's just lacking overall in my opinion.

No dude didnt they say the feds took down all of the New York family? Someone leaked out 18 years of secrets from that family. I dont think anyone is left. That ending surprised me but I would have liked to have seen the battle between the New York and New Jersey families go on throughout the final season.
Since there's only one season left lets all make predictions of what will happen in the end. I definately think the series will end with Tony Soprano sitting by himself...alone in a jail cell.

i don't think they took out the whole new york family, the feds never do that.
either tony dies or he goes to jail.

I only watched the first two episodes of this season and the finale (i got busy). Can someone recap what the heck is going on?!?!?!?!?!
Also, i enjoyed the ending. I thought they took down the entire new york family because someone from the inside ratted them all out. No one from NJ was linked though.
As for the ending, its HBO and I know they like to do things different so I'd imagine:
1. Tony Gets killed but not in in the last episode but somewhere mid-season
2. One of his family members dies, hopefully his son
3. Chris will die
4. Tony will not die nor go to jail but rather they will leave things open ended for him to continue (organized crime never dies in nj!!!) :lol2:

holy bumped threads batman
If you've missed the last few episodes you just need to know:
Adriana was shot to death by Silvo when she admitted to Christopher that she had been talking to the feds. They wanted her to either bring someone in because she had been slacking in her information lately, so she panicked and tried to get Christopher to go in to witness protection with her. He agreed, then realized that he didn't want to be poor, so they took care of her and made it look like she fled the state.
Tony B. (Steve Buscemi) shot and killed one of the Brooklyn guys as an outside contract job, behind Tony Soprano's back. He was suspected by Brooklyn and Jersey, but never actually fingered as the hitman. Then when Phil Leotardo and his brother killed Angelo (probably in retaliation), who was like a father to Tony B. when they were in the joint, Tony B got pissed and shot Phil and his brother. Phil lived, and saw who shot him, but his brother died.
The big drama was that Phil wanted Tony B. turned over to him. In the middle of this, Johnny Sack was named boss of New York, and got even more arrogant. He and Tony Soprano met under a bridge to discuss having Tony B. Turned over to him. Tony S. said he wanted it to be quick, Johnny said he couldn't promise that. He started to walk away, then went back to Johnny, got in his face and told him to go fuck himself, that he wasn't gonna turn over his own cousin.
So the drama now is that Phil and Johnny want Tony B, or else they are going to get someone even closer to Tony (refering to Christopher), and continue to cut off financial dealings and ties with the Jersey family.
That's why in the last episode, Christopher was in hiding, and also why Tony Soprano killed his cousin. He'd rather he went that way than be tourtured by Phil and his cronies, and it effectively cleaned up the mess...that is until the entire New York crew got busted at the end.
haha hope that helped. i love this show.

Thanks for the recap. I figured Adrianna was dead but i didn't realize that she got chris in on it (which i guess he didn't tell the others). I also, figured tony b did something to piss off the NY clan.
Its funny that Tony didn't have to kill his cousin (well except i guess he got some cred back from his crew for doing that) in the end. Great show.
And whats' the deal with Tony, his sister, and that fat dude she married? It looked like he was pissed at tony?
Also, someones gotta explain the whole reconcilliation between tony and his wife.
bossman calling
06/08/04, 04:57 PM
Chris never was in on it, as soon as she tried to get him to go in on it, he said he agreed, but then went and told Tony, who had Silvo take care of it.
Tony did kill his cousin, don't you remember when he came around the corner of the porch on the farmhouse and blasted his face with the shotgun?
That fat dude that Tony's sister married is Bobby, one of the top guys in the Jersey crew. He was just annoyed (as were most of the others in the crew) that Tony was offering such heavy protection to his cousin after he fucked up like that and it was affecting their business deals and personal safety so much.
And Tony and Carmella got back together after she had a fling with one of AJ's teachers, then got fucked over. Then Tony's main side girl got all burnt in an accident so he broke it off with her. She let him back in only after he promised not to cheat again AND financed a lucrative real estate project that she wanted to do.

'Sopranos' adds bonus episodes
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- When "The Sopranos" finally arrives next year for its sixth season, fans of the HBO mob drama will get more than they expected.
Eight "bonus" episodes are planned in addition to the 12 previously announced for the series, set to return in March 2006 after nearly two years without a first-run episode, HBO said Thursday.
"When something is as remarkable as 'The Sopranos,' our audience would like to see it continue as long as possible, so we are thrilled that (series creator) David Chase felt there are more stories to be told," HBO Chairman Chris Albrecht said in a statement.
There will be a break between the first set of episodes and the arrival of the extra eight hours in January 2007, HBO said. (HBO, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner.)
The premium cable channel avoided tagging the newly announced episodes as part of a seventh season and also declined to label them the final ones.
The upcoming season was to have been the series' last but there have been hints the end wasn't necessarily in sight.
With powerhouse series "Sex and the City" gone and "Six Feet Under" about to wrap, HBO would be glad to keep "The Sopranos" alive, but the series' fate is considered to be in Chase's hands.
"The Sopranos" stars James Gandolfini as mob boss Tony Soprano and Edie Falco as his wife, Carmela. The series, which won four Emmy Awards including best drama series in 2004, isn't competing this year because it didn't air during the eligibility period.
The intermission between last season and the upcoming one will end up totaling a viewer-frustrating 21 months: The fifth year concluded in June 2004, although reruns have been airing.

I've always thought it was one of the best shows on television, and this season has so far solidified that.
I think the light on the horizon symbolized that Tony will recover from the accident, at least better than the doctors predicted.

I agree that it was lacking in action and sex and killing. But I think what made the show so great was that they can go from an episode of that, and then do a completely artistic episode like this and it really showcases the "Family Drama" aspect of the show. This episode had much more to it than it seemed.

I always thought AJ would apsire to help his dad out in the "family business."
Everyone obviosly picked up allusion made about the dream: That is the life Tony could be living, and him finding his wallet and making his way home are a direct allusion to him coming out of the coma. Likewise, did you notice whose voice that was on the phone? Charmene, Artie's wife. Remember Tony and her dated for a while.

I guess you're right. Simple-minded people who do not understand anything about film and symbolism will think it was a pointless episode. The entire tv show has been a psychological drama, am I correct? You can't have action, action, action in every single episode. If that was the case the series would have ended long ago.

I was confused by the way that scene was done. He was holding onto the briefcase saying his whole life was in that briefcase and that should have meant if he let it go he was letting go of his life.
And generally going towards the white light means going to heaven. ... I just confused myself, I need to rewatch the scene again and make sure I am remembering it correctly.

Just saw it. I was a the SA concert last night, so I had to wait until I would see it.
The dream sequence is over, I think - and he found his family (hence found his way out of Finnerty's shoes in back to life).
I think him giving up the briefcase is him letting go of the mob life - which is something we know he has wanted to do. He had a conversation with Chris about in Season 3.
Carm obviosly sense that the others are not happy about giving her the cut, but the emotions of getting Tony back made her forget.
AJ is going to keep looking for the gun.
Silv, I think is going to be out of the picture for a little bit - mostly because he doesn't want to be the boss, and sees how hard it was.

Terrible. I want at least 12 deaths next week alone haha.It doesn't have anything to do with "deaths." That's just shallow. I mean, Paulie's mom died. This show has had amazing episodes without any deaths. It just seemed like nothing had to do with anything tonight, and there seemed to be no advancing of any worthwhile storylines, other than that one business. I'm just a little dissappointed with how this Paulie thing came out of nowhere. It seems like the writers are having a hard time working with what they had, and are just throwing in all this extra shit. That is how shows get dull.

the rapper thing was pretty pointless, although it was pretty funny when bobby shot the guy in the ass. i agree though, i think all the storylines they were hinting at could have been done better. it wasnt the worst episode ive ever seen because a lot of the comic relief stuff was funny..but eh, seemed like a set up episode, judging by the preview (which for the sopranos really doesnt mean much haha) but next weeks looked intense

There going nowhere with Chris, in a stupid direction with Paulie, there is no real villain, and too many characters now. does anyone care about Janice or Bobby or fat Vito, or Johnny Sac (boring character).

see the last two episodes have been entertaining, but the problem is that this isn't a normal show, this is The Sopranos. We know how good it can be. Unfortunately, there still is no villain and no real storylines going anywhere. It's not a good sign that the best storyline is about what to do about a gay mobster, who is a minor character.

So yea, nothing has really happened this season, but this is the funniest shit on tv right now. They are just making the characters as ridiculous as possible. I've been laughing through each episode as I've learned what to expect and to not take it so seriously anymore.

i'd have been fine with that, if it was handled as "oh shit, somebody big's gonna get hit." but it really wasn't. once tony talked to phil at the hospital it took on that feel that things were going to be ok.
it just ended on too happy of a note.
and not to mention that last night's episode was just fucking weird. it seemed very subpar for even a regular episode, let alone a season finale.

Oh I know. When the fed told him that the guys in brooklyn were going to hit one of his guys, Tony takes the news smiling, not phased at all.
Yah that episode was extremely unexciting, and to end it with them happily celebrating Christmas? That really doesnt scream 'Exciting life of the New Jersey mob' to me.

The "don't think they're gonna miss you much" mentality is why HBO has pulled this shit (for the second time). Enjoy Season 6 of The Sopranos though. It's riveting stuff and deserves to be purchased in two parts for $150.

lol, bitter much? I mean if a show isn't cutting it for them why would they want to keep it on the air, its not like they're a business or something.....It is their most critically acclaimed show next to The Wire, and is also one of their highest rated. HBO agreed to four seasons, so the third was shot with that in mind. Then after its airing they decide that they "can't afford" to produce the final season. Sure they're a business, but there's also got to be a point where you give a little back to the subscribers that keep it from going bankrupt.

It wouldn't be so aggravating if they didn't go back on their word. After cutting Carnivale, hopefully they'll decide to reward their subscribers with some actual closure to this story. They can't expect people to keep investing themselves into shows if they're going to keep canceling them for not reaching a Sopranos level of popularity. Why would anyone want to invest in a business that continually makes poor decisions?

sorry, but this thread is to talk about what's happened in the final season. people aren't gonna put spoiler tags throughout the whole thread.
true, but I havn't seen all the new season yet and didn't expect to see such a big spoiler.

Once the show has aired, it's not a spoiler. If you haven't seen it yet, don't go to a place where people are talking about it and then be shocked that plot is revealed.

i'm sort of wondering where the ongoing plot that's gonna bring everything crashing down is.
it would be stupid if it ends on some random or totally out of nowhere event takes place to finish the show.

somethin is gonna happen with AJ, Paulie, Carmella, or Phil real soon, and its not gonna be good.
i also hope we can get some Uncle Junior in the next one, especially after the fight.

i don't know if we'll see that, Chase has a "life goes on" type of thing, maybe we won't see an overly dramatic finale

tony's entire life is crashing around him.
my prediction all along has been that something is going to happen with carm. she's going to die, she's going to rat tony out, something.
either way, the buildup has been great. this season has been fantastic-last nights episode was great. especially the ending.
some of the best writing on tv.

There should be a rule or at least warning posted that if you are not caught up on a season or haven't seen a movie and you go into a thread about said subject, be expected to be spoiled....we could call it "The Common Sense Rule"

tony dying is too predictable; everything around him is going to die.

plus, they're making a movie, and I doubt they're gonna kill Tony off in fear of losing fan support for the movie.

everything i've ever read has said that they did season 6.2 instead of the movie, and have no plans of doing a movie in the immediate or near future. Then again, anything brings in money.
Do you have an article or something saying they are cause i'd like to read it, i would love to see a movie but just haven't heard anything since Chase decided to do the 2nd part of season 6

I don't have an article or anything, but I've heard it around. You might be right, since I haven't heard anything about it in awhile.

From the looks of the next episode Phil is gonna try to have Tony hit.

Also, how hard did you laugh in that scene with the psychologist where Tony was trying to cover up the tooth that was stuck to his pant leg? hahahaha That was soooo fucked up what he did to that guy.

hahah i loved it, i thought he was gonna kill the guy at first and cringed when he curb stomped him
Tonights episode was great, i was really sweating AJ killing himself, but something bad is going to happen very soon. Pretty sure Phil is gonna put a hit out on Tony and he might be confronted by someone that is in his crew.

That reminded me of American History X. I almost had to look away.
Yeah, this season has been incredible. agree with AJ, I had no idea what was gonna happen.
I think it will backfire on Phil and he'll end up getting killed. I just don't see them killing Tony, but who knows.

yeah some crazy stuff is gonna happen, here's the summary for the week after next, i'll spoiler tag it incase someone doesn't want to read it, doesn't really give anything definite but just in case
Sunday, June 3rd, 2007. (Episode # 85) Tony contemplates a difficult choice given by Carmella. AJ inquires about going back to school. Agent Harris prepares for "Plan B." Silvio is demanding answers to a family crisis, but nobody in New York is in the mood for apologizing. The allegiance of those closest to Tony is put to the test; a case of mistaken identity has serious ramifications

tonight's episode was fantastic; they have done this season about as well as they possibly could have. and the more i watch this show .. every new episode i see, it really makes me think that whoever labeled this as one of the best dramas of all time could not have been more correct.
when AJ jumped in the pool, i flipped out. i thought he was a goner. i really did. and the way he did it was fucked up.
when tony curb stomped, all i could think about was american history X. that scene made me jump OFF the sofa. it was insane.
there is so much left to tell and that 2 hour finale is going to be mind blowing. just from the previews, i cannot wait. something huge is going to happen and i have a lot of faith in the writers that they are going to end this series very, very well.
this thread should be a lot bigger.

Caught the rerun tonight.
I agree. As soon as they showed that he didn't tie his hands...I knew that he would get out of it somehow.
When Tony was talking to Dr. Melfi about AJ and the rope and he said "or maybe he's just a fuckin' idiot," I started cracking up.

I know I felt kinda bad for laughing at that scene, it's prolly just cause AJ is a pussy. I thought that if he was going to kill himself he would make the rope alot shorter? I knew he would bitch out. shit I can not wait till the finale.

i've only seen two episodes of this show (the last two). the doctor that the therapist recommended to tony had his office in bloomfield. my friends and i cheered when we heard that. and my friend won some type of lotto at his job. he works at the ice cream shop that the final scene of the final episode was filmed. he gets to be in the background.

I was just confused at your use of the word "backfire," since Phil was gunning for those two either way.
