Overall, all the bands did a pretty darn good job. It was the first time I saw these bands.
As an opening band, I was quite impressed with A Cursive Memory (hadn't heard of them until this show). They had a lot of charisma and were able to really get the crowd going. And I just checked out their myspaces.... the lead singer Colin is only 17 (and the rest are all under 20 yrs old), which is a bit surprising since they were performing as if they were pros (somewhat). Lots of crowd interaction. The vocals seemed to be drowned out by the other instruments, though. Also, their songs were ehh........ kind of forgettable. But hey, they're off to a good start with their strong stage presence.
Next, The Hush Sound came on. Greta and Bob's vocals were dead-on. Bob was singing a bit too loud, though. I tried to sing along, but I couldn't hear myself because he was so loud. :-|. Their set was a change of pace, but an appropriate one at that. They had a more cool, calm, and collected kind of vibe. They are a quaint band, with a charming presence. Yay! :-). Sounded just like the CD, if not better.
Then, BoysLikeGirls went on next. They were full of energy and enthusiasm, and were really able to rile up the crowd. I couldn't really get into their set, though.... I dunno..... just the generic-ness of their songs >.0. Still, good job though.
Hellogoodbye's set had to be one of the funnest and funniest sets I've ever witnessed/experienced. Where else can you see a bucket-drumming hobo, a frisky bunny dancing with a chipmunk, and prepubescent girl-on-girl action all on the same stage? Forrest is hilarious with his clever and outlandish quips. He kept on taking jabs at the crowd... yeah that dude is funny. They were just amazing. The crowd was 100% into it. It just felt like one big spontaneous party. The encore was pretty awesome, too. Oo and I just about died when they played 'Dear Jamie...Sincerely Me'. <3. Watching them perform their songs live is a whole lot better than listening to them on the CD.
