You know, it's really unfortunate these movies are going to end up as they are. I think both have a shit casting job with actors that can't pull off the roles they were assigned, yet the movies have somewhat interesting plots.
For one, Next is based off a Philip K Dick story and I think he's a good sci-fi writer (see the movies Minority Report and A Scanner Darkly if you don't like reading). But to cast Nicolas Cage and whatsherface.. Jessica Biel? It's just no good, especially since Nicolas Cage only does a good acting job once every twenty movies. Other than that he just reminds me of a stuttering kid with some form of mental retardation. He should stick to punching women in bear suits. And Jessica should have sticked to her job on.. 7th Heaven, I think it was? I haven't seen her in anything since then that makes me give a shit (and for the record, I don't even think she's that attractive, although Chuck and Larry wish me to really believe otherwise)
And as for Vacancy, this plot idea could be really good. A couple goes to some hotel and realizes they're in a snuff paradise. Sweet. I'm all for that. Bring on the snuff. But with the casting of Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale? Luke Wilson shouldn't do anything except for dark comedies, because he's no good at normal comedies (My Super Ex Girlfriend, anyone?). I also firmly believe that unless he's some quiet depressed guy, he really can't act at all.
Finally, in regards to Perfect Stranger, thanks for giving away the ending to this movie in the commercial. Not that I think it would have been very hard to figure out watching it halfway through or anything, but watching the commercial, you see THIS SPRINGS GREATEST TWIST!!!!!!
Halle Berry: You've been manipulating this the whole time!!!!!!
Some guy who's name I don't know but he whines and has an odd face: Secrets are great... blah blah blah
Yeah. That doesn't give it away or anything.
