View Full Version : Thoughts on Next and Vacancy and Perfect Stranger

You know, it's really unfortunate these movies are going to end up as they are. I think both have a shit casting job with actors that can't pull off the roles they were assigned, yet the movies have somewhat interesting plots.

For one, Next is based off a Philip K Dick story and I think he's a good sci-fi writer (see the movies Minority Report and A Scanner Darkly if you don't like reading). But to cast Nicolas Cage and whatsherface.. Jessica Biel? It's just no good, especially since Nicolas Cage only does a good acting job once every twenty movies. Other than that he just reminds me of a stuttering kid with some form of mental retardation. He should stick to punching women in bear suits. And Jessica should have sticked to her job on.. 7th Heaven, I think it was? I haven't seen her in anything since then that makes me give a shit (and for the record, I don't even think she's that attractive, although Chuck and Larry wish me to really believe otherwise)

And as for Vacancy, this plot idea could be really good. A couple goes to some hotel and realizes they're in a snuff paradise. Sweet. I'm all for that. Bring on the snuff. But with the casting of Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale? Luke Wilson shouldn't do anything except for dark comedies, because he's no good at normal comedies (My Super Ex Girlfriend, anyone?). I also firmly believe that unless he's some quiet depressed guy, he really can't act at all.

Finally, in regards to Perfect Stranger, thanks for giving away the ending to this movie in the commercial. Not that I think it would have been very hard to figure out watching it halfway through or anything, but watching the commercial, you see THIS SPRINGS GREATEST TWIST!!!!!!

Halle Berry: You've been manipulating this the whole time!!!!!!

Some guy who's name I don't know but he whines and has an odd face: Secrets are great... blah blah blah

Yeah. That doesn't give it away or anything.

I'm intrested in seeing Vacancy. It gives me the vibe of Identity, a movie that contained a good balance of thriller and fright.

all three look absolutely horrible.

vacancy seems the most promising, but it'll blow. they'll fuck it up somewhere along the way.

perfect stranger just seems like absolute garbage. and i can't take nic cage seriously in any role where he has that much hair.

I want to see Vacancy but the fact that it's Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale bothers me. I just don't see either one if them in a film like this.

I can't take Nic Cage seriously in any role due to The Wicker Man.

What the fuck was he thinking?

No interest in seeing any of them.

Jessica Biel is hot, though.

And he is fucking awesome in all ways. But you're right, they gave away the ending.

1408 looks cool though.

I've definitely enjoyed him in the past.

And is that the Stephen King story movie, right? I have my doubts about it, but as far as casting goes, at least John Cusack has shown he can hold his own in a movie that's not a teen comedy
