there has been a lot of talk going on about these styles of writing being overdone and i just thought id say this

when it comes to writing it dosent exactly matter if its emo or whatever. Its what you feel and thats what music is about, music isnt only about innovation. Dont change your style just because its being over done. The things we all write in these songs are what we feel about certain topics such as love/politics/death/life or whatever. And the shit about love songs being overdone.....THEY HAVE BEEN AROUND FOREVER. there is absolutley nothing you can do to make it go away. Innovation usually lies and is necessary in the sound of the music...not the lyrics. Have a good day

I most ways your very correct.... But many times when it sounds like something else or has the same lyrical style as "overdone" type of songs , its not because thats how you feel... Many times its just something you forced because you loved the way it sounded and you were just so heavily influenced you couldnt help but ripping off other music. Me being a song writer myself (I have not yet released any lyrics) i know that the influence is always there and I try and steer away from tottaly ripping things off I just try and excell on ideas. My way to do that is listen to many different types of music before I write so I am not to influenced by one group, this way my sound is comnig from many different influences which creates a tottaly new sound.

you know thats damn good idea, listening to diff bands and then pulling something out...ill try that sometime

Yea it is. Its get your mind off of one band in particular this way its mostly every aspect of every band that you want usually creating a unique sound that has very little or no ripoffs what so ever. Hope my advice helps.
