So I'm about to move back to California in a couple weeks, but can't bring home my tv. I'm gonna sell it here and then get a new one when I get home. Since I'm looking at making a huge investment in this tv when I get home, I'm looking to try and get the best tv I can at around the $2000 price range. I'm probably gonna head to Best Buy tomorrow to look around and get an idea, but from just looking online, the Sharp AQUOS series is leading the pack.
But since I know there's people here who know more about this topic than I do, I figured I'd ask for inputs. I've always shyed away from plasma, so I'd probably be looking at an LCD. Anywho, I need help!

Go to a CostCo or Sams Club and buy a VIZIO. They are cheap have plenty of component hook ups as well as plenty of regular inputs.
These are teh cheapest and besst deals you will find. I have a 32 inch from them.
They sell a 60 inch that is glorious. Look into these they are great TV's

We have a Panasonic; it's amazing. I'm in love with it and will probably miss it more than my family when I move out

Don't the plasmas lose their screen over time or something like that? And if you play videogames on it a lot or something? I'm totally ignorant as you can tell.

ive had the sony plasma for like 6 years...since plasma's pretty much first came out and its still fine. you arent supposed to leave games paused for too long or something.

Ok so it's not as big of a deal as I had been scared into thinking. What do you play your videogames on?

I have all the games hooked up the sony, just because its 42''...but i may hook up the PS3 on the samsung since it has the HDMI input. The Sony is too old haha.

Projection screen TV's will burn in Images if left on teh screen for to long. Alot of systems and games are trying to find ways to correct this problem though.
My Cousin had one that Burned in all the stuff that is constantly on your screen in Halo 2, stuff like the Radar. Its pretty funny to look at.

I have a Samsung HL-S5087W... 50 inch 1080p..
its amazing, i love it and it'll only run you about $1800. No ghosting, no burn in, has a game mode, no gaming lag. 2 HDMI, 3 component... its sexy.

Must be rear projection eh? Great price for all the features though.
I just bought myself the Sony 46XBR2, their top of the line LCD. So ridiculously sexy, 3 HDMI's, 2 component, 1080p, not to mention the classy glass framing and the sharpest picture and best colors of any LCD. Yet it's currently sitting in a box waiting for me to move out into my own place. Biggest. Tease. Ever.
If I were you, I'd be patient and wait for a deal on a Aquous or go with one of the Samsung LCD's that are pretty reasonably priced. From all of the research I did however, which was considerable, the best bang for the buck buy on an LCD that I read was the Westinghouse 42" LVM42w2. Look it up, very inexpensive, top of the line quality, great service, great value. That's my recommendation, and it could leave $700 in your pocket.
generally speaking, sony and sharp make the best LCD's. make sure to get true-1080p resolution so you could take full advantage of HD-DVD or blu-ray. the difference is minimal but you might as well get the very best. samsung also makes great LCD's if you're looking to spend a bit less.

The new Samsung DLPs are supposed to be really good (HL-T series with LED; replacing the color wheel).
Sony LCDs are excellent, but you're going to pay for it. XBR2 is good, but the XBR3 is out also (but it's nearly $4k)
Sharp and Samsung LCDs are good, and so is Panasonic plasma (but I think there is only 1 1080p Panny plasma, and it's really expensive)

Brandsmart USA. Only in FLorida in GA, plus they are insanely cheap. They had a 42 inch LG plasma for 900 yesterday.

DLPs are fucking sick if you want to shell out that kind of cash. I guess if you're going to be spending that much, might as well go all out and get the best you can. One of my friends got a huge DLP tv, I think it was a Samsung, and its sweet. I think it cost him about 3 G's though. It had the best picture I've ever seen though, so its definently worth it if youve got the cash.

I have a 32" Samsung. I got an amazing deal on it.. $450. HDMI, 2 Component inputs, like 5 composite, 2 s-video. It's pretty ballin'.
2 Component? Damn, even ours only has 1. I wish we had 2 though. I hate switching for my 360 and Wii.
