This may be beating a dead horse, this may already be a thread. But what the hell...why not? And yeah, I'm probably a geek for starting this thread, but oh well haha.

Personally, I prefer Dark Forces II. Jedi Outcast was fun, and a good game overall, but I liked the storyline alot better in DFII, as well as the maps (ie, the level designs, etc)...I mean, yeah, JO had better graphics, but whatever, haha.

So...feel free to discuss.

Dark Forces II was the better game overall, but the lightsaber complete sucks in it. Jedi Outcast on the other hand had a sweet lightsaber mechanic but the levels were kinda hit or miss (though to be honest, i dont really remember either of them all that well, but i do remember liking DFII better)

Yeah, that's true about the lightsaber play. But eh, I still like DFII a bit better.

What's the newer one you could play online? That wasn't Outcast was it? And Dark Forces was awesome when it first came out. But if I played it today, haha, I'd hate it.

i liked both and do not see a point in choosing a favorite.

Hahaha,

I remember one time when a friend and I played Dark Forces II online. Yeah...I handed his ass right to him, haha.

I played Dark Forces recently, and man, that game is boring. Drab colors, level design, and that level in the sewers sucks. I remember LOVING that game when it came out. Fighting Boba Fett was outrageous.

I definitely like Outcast better, if only because the game mechanics were so much better.

What was the more recent one, Academy? That one was fun, force pushing people off ledges = best.

Ugh, haha

Yeah, DF is good for I dunno..."sentimentality value" or something haha, but youre right, its very drab all over.

And I havent played Academy yet, but Ive always been meaning to.

dark forces 1 ftw, especially with F10 which gave you a crazy blasting cannon, haha that was soo long ago

CellarGhosts

Haha, it is a classic, yet after playing the other games, it just loses the fun it possessed before.

Haha, cool cool. I loved DFII from the moment I began playing it, haha. A friend of mine brought it over to my house one day and introduced me to it. And the rest is history, haha.

And yes, the cutscenes were awesome. I remember being in total awe the first time I saw that opening scene with Jerec, as I had never seen that technology put to use in a video game before.

This thread inspired me to re-install Jedi Academy.
Haha, nice.

Quick question:

I downloaded some addon levels from the Massassi Temple, and does anyone have any idea why some of them end up looking like this? :

And it's not just one level, it happens with several. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have no idea why this is.

Also, the whole levels themselves don't look like that, just certain parts/sections. It's confusing.

if you can find a "no cd crack" which basically just tricks your computer into thinking the cd is in the drive. shouldnt be too hard to find, just search "Jedi Knight crack"

Hmmm...not to sure about that one.

I'd just go with what SingleDoubt said, and search for a crack.

And does anyone have any answers, btw, for my question up there? haha thanks

dont have a clue, obviously something to do with the textures of the maps seen as that's the only thing affected, try replacing them or something, never used custom maps on df2 so im not sure.

you should just be able to burn an iso of JK2 onto a cd or mount it with daemon tools, the game doesn't have any copy protection on, you just need the cd

Ah okay, I see. Im not all that savy when it comes to custom level designing, etc, so I'm kinda lost there haha. But thanks for your reply just the same. Hopefully I can figure something out.

I sadly never got around to playin much TIE Fighter/X-Wing, or stuff like Rebel Strike (I think it was called.)

Anyway, DFII/MotS will always be my favorite Star Wars video games. I like Outcast alot as well, and the original DF will always be a classic of sorts, but all in all it's DFII ftw haha.

I like some of the other games, but they were just pretty "meh" overall. Like "Shadows of the Empire," "Rogue Squadron" and "Podracer"...they're all kinda boring, but still fun now and then.

But I do really like the latest Rogue Squadron games, they're really cool, albeit I'm not such a huge fan of air-combat games for some reason. They get pretty irritating, as I much prefer ground-combat play.
