View Full Version : Wii Sports Rubberband AI?

so ive recently got back into wii sports and i've noticed (especially during baseball) if i start doing very well in a game, either my team's AI will severely plummet (drop EVERY single catch, won't dive for balls in the outfield thus converting a single into a triple, infielders won't jump for catches and instead watch as the ball soars over their head converting an out into a double or triple) or the opposing team's skills will skyrocket (catch every single fly ball, even if the ball inches into the stands for a home run, convert every pitch into a home run even if i throw an intentional foul, not drop a single ball throughout the game, and jump to ridiculous heights to catch a ball in the infield.)

this leads me to assume that Wii Sports does indeed use the infamous rubberband AI. for example, last night i was playing with my friends and they saw me score 14 runs in the first inning, and then watched in horror as the super-charged rival team trumped me by converting any and all pitches into instant home runs, and then surpassed my 14 runs before the end of the inning. i mean, i know it's a video game, but it sucks when you want to sit down and enjoy a game of Wii Sports and all you get out of it is frustration.

anyone else encountered anything like this?

Yeah. In every other nintendo game.

I agree it kinda sucks at times, but it makes it fun also.

But specifically, I haven't noticed in Wii Sports, but I'd totally believe it to be true.

NFL blitz was the biggest culprit of this. you couldn't get a lead of more than 21 unless you got lucky.

yeah, it could be fun if they implemented it in a fun way, like say, it kicks in only after you've reached pro status

hell yeh. after a 14 pt lead, my WRs couldnt catch a thing and they tipped the ball 20 yards towards the defense. bullshit

Yeah, i hated that shit. Id be up like 21-0 and then that shit would kick in and I would fumble 3 straight possessions and eventually lose. Fuck that.
