looks like Cook is the only one w/ a slight chance of coming back. Oden and Conley are gone. All 3 families are going to meet on Sunday to collectively discuss the situation.

Josh Shipp, Nick Collison, Kevin Love, Mbah a Moute, Lorenzo Matta ... thats a team. They won't run the court w/ UNC or Memphis but they'll play the best defense in the country. Howland has done a great job of putting a team together that fits his style of play.

Purdue will struggle without Landry and Teague, but I could see them finish 4th to 5th. Wisconsin will struggle but they have talent with Bohannon, Landry, and Butch. I think IU has the best shot to win the Big Ten next year, as much as that kills me to say it.

not surprising at all about cook. he pretty much made it known he was only gonna be around a year. he'd have jumped straight to the pros if that rule weren't implicated. no shocker there. just a shame he didn't perform better.
i'm gonna miss watching conley run the buckeyes. he was so fun to watch. i was hoping we'd have him for at least another season.

That would be assuming he doesn't have a worse year next season then this year. Go when your stock's high. He'll only hurt his stock, IMO, if he stays.

Yeah, he could end up helping a team, he's got the skills he just didn't perform throughout the season. He's a nice player but definitely could have used some more college ball cus his stock isn't near as what it could be after a year or two.
As for Conley and Oden, I'm pissed and disappointed as a Bucks fan but I'm happy for them and will definitely follow and root for them in any team they go to even if I hate the team.
When Oden was introduced, the crowd chanted, "One More Year!"
That prompted walk-on, seldom-used guard Mark Titus to grab the biggest response of the night.
He took the microphone and said, 'I heard the fans chanting 'one more year.' I sat down with my family and just want to say that I'll be back next year.'"
that's from an article that was on Yahoo Sports, so funny

Purdue's got the #5 SF (4-star), #8 SF (4-star), #7 SG (5-star), #11 PF (4-star) and an Unrated 3-star SG coming in as well. Overall, the class is rated the 4th best class by Scout.com (where I got the star ratings, they vary on rivals.com but you get the picture) and 7th best by Rivals.com.
Purdue hasn't seen a class like this in quite some time – if ever. Coach Matt Painter (http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=841) landed a quartet of four-star standouts. The versatile class also fills several needs. E'twaun Moore is a combo guard, JaJuan Johnson as an inside/outside post and Robbie Hummel and Scott Martin as multipurpose forwards.

not to rain on that thought but you really cant teach someone how to be aggressive they have to do it on their own after you yell at em enough

i disagree. if you've ever coached or have been coached than it's very possible to teach someone how to play aggressive. and what i'm meaning is teaching him how to go down into the low post and use his size to his advantage. right now he wants to shoot the 3 and take jumpshots

this also brings up a great point. that i would like to see the rule get extended by 1 year. i doubt that will happen anytime soon because the rule was just change a few years ago. but i think it would do a great justice to both the ncaa and the nba

yea definitely agree that koufos is a lottery pick if he doesn't screw up. i don't know about extending by 1 more year. i mean i'm all for players staying at least 2 years before going to the pros, but you at least have to let them decide on their own.

He played well all season, he's always given good minutes. He's not incredibly talented but he works incredibly hard and it pays off for the team.

It's looking like we'll be disposing 7 footers every year now as we've got a 5-star 7 footer coming in the next season too, to go along with 4 other 5 stars already. Thank you, Thad :worship:

i agree that he will be better prepared if he stays one more year. all these kids will
however saying that he's proven nothing is rediculous. i mean he dominated in a ton of games this season(including the national championship game). there were a few games that he got into foul trouble, but he still dominated in almost every min that he played in the tournament

every game minus the final game of the tourney he was in foul trouble. and in reality florida played oden wrong. they left oden by himself most of the time and rarely doubled up on him. you cant leave him single covered. almost every other team played him correctly.

I disagree. Physically, he's better then any center in college basketball and base on that alone someone will take him and with great reason. I subscribe to the theory he was looking out for himself in terms of not getting hurt through most of the season, so he remained passive. Look at when he wanted to, how much he dominated. 24 pts, 15 boards against Tennessee back in the regular season. The block at the end of the OSU/Tenn game in the tourney. the National title game.
I think that, coupled with not fitting the run and gun and Thad Matta's unwillingness to tone down the system for the best center, physically and tools wise in a decade, hinder any sort of numbers. He should've touched the ball every time down the court against Florida in the Title game; he was carving them up in the paint.
I think if oden was in a place, like say, Georgetown, he would've put up monster numbers and then the hype would've been RIDICULOUS.

yeah...I know...I've just watched the way college players progress, and the guys that stay always tend to be better off. And if it was 3 years, people pick schools based on coaches and systems, not based on exposure directly, and the quality of the game is better for it. And for a few years the draft would suffer, but only maybe 2, and I think they would still be fine.

there is no way the nba players union would allow it. even if the nba wanted to, there's no way it'd happen.
nfl is collectively bargained like that. their players know that no kid is ready right out of high school and the more time they have to develop physically the better. not to mention that's been the rule for a long time. if that rule weren't in place and they tried to implicate it now, no way they'd make it work either.

And I think the NFL is wrong in that. However, in the defense of their rules, there's no way a high school senior is physically ready for the NFL. Save for a few kids who are more few and far between then high school b-ball players.
