Am I alone here?
Personal views on the war aside here, but what make's her so much more special and important than any other POW's?
She was part of a MOTORCADE!!! Not even a "real" soldier. Maybe that's why. Some poor, little country girl...etc.
I think it's a slap in te face of other rescued POW's not only from this war, but all others. She didn't indure jackshit compaired to others.
Anyways, opinions on this issue wanted. Go nuts.....

Its the whole feminist "girl power" crap...I mean, sure I wouldnt want to go through what she did, but the media ran this story like fucking Seabiscut....if she had a penis and wasnt gay, it would be an unknown hostage...but no, Katie Couric and every other feminist bitch in the world has to put her on a platform, and screw over everyone else...Im tired of this bullshit...and those injuries were all from the crash she was involved in, they made it sound like she was shot several dozen times and managed to survive...fucking liberal media has to pull this shit, pisses me off...

Didn't come out in the end that she wasn't even shot at all, just injured due to the accident?
I stopped watching after they were treating her like the second coming of Eisenhower.
I swear I even heard the comparison somehwere by some stupid fuck between her ordeal and D-Day. Made me want to do unspeakable acts of violence to the person who said that.

It's not the being caught part, it's suffering through the torture and whatnot.
hey, she did kill like 7 or 8 Iraqis while injured brefore she was captured.

that wasn't even her! there were two other survivors and they fought off the Iraquis before they died. Jessica Lynch did shit. It's fucking retarded that she gets all that credit. She wasn't even tortured!

this is kinda like the movie courage under fire
This is a tactic used during war to keep support going. If you can put a face and story with the soldiers fighting, you'll give more support. Every country has done this in the past, and continues to do this. People just need to learn to see through it.
I don't remember where I read this, but I recall an article that discussed how Jessica wasn't so much "heroically rescued". Apparently her captors had left the hospital hours before hand, and the marines just went in and picked her up.

She never killed anyone. 7 or 8 iraqi's? What is she now, Rambo?
And just a little piece of nitpicking detail here...Marines don't do Search and rescue. Special Forces do that. It was a team of Navy SEALs that got her out. :D

MEU's (marine expeditionary units) do ground work like this.
But I think you're right, it was SEALs in this case

Ahh, yes. the group formerly known as Marine Force Recon, if I'm not mistaken. I thought they were defunct now, with most of the guys going to the Seals or Delta.

You might be right, but I think I remember remember CNN reporting on MEU's going into Iraq
Either way, those guys are hardcore.

Ha, Rambo is such a badass, best scene is when he goes into that control room with a machine gun in one hand and like 2 hundred pounds of ammo in the other and just unloads on the place....good times...

I have to disagree with you on this example...I know in the past that this has been done, but I dont think this is the case....I think its the whole "pushing feminism", I mean for god sake its a Katie Couric crock of shit...for god's sake. Most of these news stations putting the lime light on the "heroine" are very liberal, yes Fox News did cover Lynch (although I do recall O'Reilly tearing it apart), they didnt have hour long specials showing how much of a heroine she was. NBC milked it for all it was worth, it wasnt really a "support the war" move...it was more a "girl power, watch the WNBA" move
