A new DRM-free music service called AnywhereCD.com (http://www.anywherecd.com) has launched (http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3i3333b456c657cdbbe88df5f0d81c009d ) and features music from a variety of Warner Music Group labels, as well as from various indie labels.
They should have postponed the launch a couple of months and made a site that actually looks professional and like something I should take seriously.

Why would you buy The White Stripes "Get Behind Me Satan" for 11.95 when you can get it from eMusic for 2.86? THough there MP3+CD offer is pretty good since you will eventually be able to sell the CD at some point. It's all still cheaper than FYE>
White Stripes and Hatebreed are apparently punk bands now. And a lot of those prices are ridiculous. Looks to me like they're trying to build potential lost profits due to filesharing into the cost of the album, which is still basically treating paying customers like criminals.
As a side note, I'll never understand why CD prices don't come down over time the way DVD prices do.

Just had a quick browse... looks like you can buy the MP3 album AND CD for a bit extra right?
So you get the MP3 straight away then sent the CD?
I've never got why iTunes don't do this.. I think it would boost sales a hell of a lot. All the people that don't buy / download albums because they want the actual CD.
EDIT - Ok haha didn't realise they didn't have the permission. Thought this was the first of the non-DRM wave.

did you guys not see this in the article?
"AnywhereCD is selling Warner Music Group content in a manner that flagrantly violates the terms of our agreement," says a WMG representative. "Accordingly, we have sent them a notice of termination and they are required to immediately remove all of our content from their site."
these guys are doing something crazy -- they think that they will sell a ton overnight and warner will change their mind.
wrong, wrong!

the domain name is pretty lame
the site could use some work
functionality such as browsing needs to be made better
digital downloads should be 3 bucks cheaper
but the ability to dl and get the cd in mail is a good idea...

What would be the point of paying for mp3's and a CD? If you are going to get the CD, why not just pay less and import the CDs yourself? It would just be buying the same CD twice. Maybe it's just me.
