dear ben,
i saw your woman... err ben harper on tv last night. he didnt sound like a girl
love,
nicole
if you like or boys night out or atreyu, i'm sorry to inform you that i don't know anything that sucks as hard as those guys (i just don't dig that kinda music).
if you like blood brothers, sweet.
i recommend:
against me! - it's like
folkhardcore...folkcore...fo'core.. .fauxcore...um
good lyrics, very sing along anthemicy kinda. check out "i still love you julie", "those anarcho punx are mysterious", and "pints of guiness make you strong".
converge - they are the kings of tricked out metalcore. insane vocals and totally wanking guitar. check out "the saddest day", "concubine", or "year of the swine". their older stuff is more metal, the newer stuff is more noisy and epic.
the locust - they are a grindcore band only in the loosest sense of the word. they have really short songs, sick vocals contributed by all members, and very odd lyrics. they have a keyboardist who uses science fiction kinda noises! no song recommendations...pick one with the coolest title. oh wait, check out "anything jesus does, i can do better" and "moth-eaten deer head".
big black - the original industrial band. drum machine, two guitarists, bassist, and madman steve albini. lyrics about men and the evil they do, minimalistic song structures, and more angry nerds than you can shake a fist at.
black eyes - i'm listening to them right now. odd vocals. they have a cool groove to their stuff...i just heard of them and i'm a fan so far.
also check out older boysetsfire (the albums "the day the sun went out" and "after the eulogy"). they've got a mix of good emoriffic songs and good hardcore...riff-ic...songs. any band on level plane records has some good screamo: i recommend saetia, neil perry, you and i, and hot cross.
