yall think $1,500 a month is enough to get by on a $600 rent after you factor in all the other expenses like utilities? and how quiet are these things? you can't hear what goes on in the apt next door can you?

hmm, apartments. the one i've got has 'soundproof' technology in the walls, so it's really quiet. $600 for a place isn't too bad, and with 1,500 you have to remember taxes, utilities, gas, food, and regular expenditures...

plus..furniture?

furniture won't be a problem. I did forget to factor in my $150 monthly car bill though

Question dude...I assume you go to UNT if you're in Denton? Why would you pay 600$ a month for an apartment? The Ridge is only like 415$ a month with utilities paid and furniture. The one my friend and I were looking into was 420$ with utilities. That's per person, but either way...600$ a month? What complex is that expensive in Denton? It must be super fancy?

You should be fine.

I didn't know they were that cheap. I've been pricing places in the lewisville area. I'm just worried that the noise gets out of control in those complexes close to school. I need peace and quiet

apartments are NOT quiet places.

think about who usually lives in apartments:

young parents with kids,
kids,
children,
and also more kids.

last saturday morning at 8 am, a bunch of kids were outside riding their bikes in a circle and screaming while blowing whistles.

i wanted to die.

Apartments aren't the quietest place although mine is somewhat peaceful. As for having 1500 dollars to live off on, I think it could working assuming your cost of living isn't that high. I say...Just Budget-No ridiculous miscellaneous expenditures. Good Luck. Independence is Bliss...

Well, I guess let's hope it is enough. Should have probably thought of this before getting the apartment.

my brother just got his apartment to split with a buddy. thought he could live off by not paying his rent the first time, and they'd give him a break. think again. didn't really answer your question, but be careful with your money because it will mean alot more than it did before.

my friend and I have been living in a house together for years but he's getting married so i'm kind of the odd man out. I know nothing about apartments as you can tell

There's some equation, like apt rent + utilities should not equal more than 60% of your monthly wages. It';s online somewhere

expensive? $600 is cheap where I live. I was looking for an apartment and the cheapest I could find was like $750 and it was super small

The cost of living in California is higher than in Texas. Even though...the old bassist in my band has a room in an apartment in Corona and the rent is only like 275$ or something a month. It's probably a shit hole, but whatever.

my roommate and i each pay 625 a month for rent, which includes heat and hot water, a big plus if you can find it. plus 50 each for cable/internet and 30ish for electric, but that's sure to go up for the summer.

make sure you map everything out so you don't forget things like:

-car insurance
-food
-gas
-student loans (if you have them like me)

just stay away from the downtown area, that place is hella expensive. theres some pretty cheap studios in fullerton though, the one I found was like 700

Well that's actually partly true..i've been to some UNT parties and they were pretty sweet. But the town itself needs to fucking just burn down.

Someone needs to come to poor Denton's defense. Yep, someone really should...

hahaha wow. some of the cheapest one-bedrooms here are 1300 a month. i would kill to only have to pay 600

i can't even fathom $600 rent! you should be fine, but it depends on what utilities you pay. my electricity, cell phone, landline/dsl only adds $120 on top of my rent/parking.

sometimes i can hear what's going on next door, but generally it's because my apt is unusually quiet (no music) or they're being unusually loud.
