i love classic rock. its so awesome. so many of these bands have talent that today's bands cant even touch. there's nothing like led zeppelin. i'm also a huge lynyrd skynyrd fan. and CCR owns!

probably nu-metal, mudvayne is just one of the most amazing bands.

-all music circa the 80s. including the old, original punk stuff such as ramones, dk's, pistols (besides the fact that sid vicious is now trendy.. i actually like their music. hey! what a concept!), but excluding classic rock. i hate ac/dc, guns 'n' roses, etc.
-90s rock (old bush, oasis, old green day, verve pipe, chili peppers, pumpkins, nirvana, list goes on and on)
-alternative (this, for those of you who are clueless, is also the category that punk these days falls under.)
-some 70s. ('you're so vain' caught my ear and i was hooked)
-classical (bach, beethoven, you know the drill)
-reggae (bob marley.....yes, i said bob marley.....was a genius. although somewhat of a hippie)
-i'm forgetting all sorts of genres. i just know it. damnit.

the used is (in the words of cole) "its like super angry at your girlfriend pop punk"

The Used would be a hybrid of pop punk and some emotional hardcore/post hardcore...what have you.

I honestly can't believe you thought they were metal, oh well.

I actually don't consider any of those bands metal. But each have at least some metal influence. The Used, I just don't see it in them.

Elvis Costello would usually be tossed into either punk or new-wave (a sub-genre of punk) when people are categorizing. Either way, he's way more punk than any tateXcoreŽ band.

And I've often heard the Used call "emo-metal," whatever floats your boat.
