Here's what the staff has been listening to this past week. What have you been listening to?
Jason: Jim Croce, Cary Brothers, Rocky Votolato, and Arctic Monkeys.
Melissa: The British female trifecta: Lily Allen (http://www.myspace.com/lilymusic), Amy Winehouse (http://www.myspace.com/amywinehouse), and Corinne Bailey Rae (http://www.myspace.com/corinnebaileyrae).
Joe: The Dear Hunter (http://www.absolutepunk.net/thedearhunter), Amber Pacific (http://www.absolutepunk.net/amberpacific) and though it's not music, that new TV show Drive (http://www.fox.com/drive/).

Steve: The Dear Hunter (http://www.absolutepunk.net/thedearhunter)'s Act II and Travis (http://www.myspace.com/travis)'s The Boy With No Name are amazing, and Friday Night Boys (http://www.myspace.com/thefridaynightboys) make some sweet old fashioned sugary pop-punk.
Louise: Phoenix (http://www.myspace.com/wearephoenix), Shitdisco (http://www.myspace.com/shitdisco), and this isn't really a band but DEFINITELY check out the Anberlin (http://www.myspace.com/anberlin)/The Reason (http://myspace.com/thereasonrock) tour currently going across Canada if you get the chance.

Scott I.: June of '44 (http://www.myspace.com/giugnodel44) and Rodan (http://www.myspace.com/rodanrusty)
Julia: I saw Brand New (http://www.absolutepunk.net/brandnew) last night, so there's my recommendation.

The Graduate, hands down the best new band of 2007 in my opinion. I've been listening to the album non-stop and it still amazes me how they manage to find an exquisite and intricate combo between catchy rock and intelligent ambient tunes. I love this band.

Also, Blades of Glory. I didn't have a chance to see Hot Fuzz yet (I heard it was really good), but BOG was a genuinely funny movie. I just plain love Will Ferrell. The man is a comedic genius.

Rosetta - great ambient, spacey metal. Listen to their 2 hour-long album The Galilean Satellites. It's an absolute monster.

This Flod Covers the Earth - great hardcore punk band with a serious Gravity records influence. Fans of Life At These Speeds would probably dig

And go see the film Sunshine, especially if you like cool astronaut shit like I do.

the dear hunter - i haven't had a chance to hear the new album yet, but there is no doubt in my mind that it will be incredible. they're some of the best musicians i know.
the microphones - the glow, pt. 2 is a production masterpiece.
jason anderson - do yourself a favor and see him play. it will change your life. i realize that that sounds over-enthusiastic, but his shows are an experience like no other.
tiger saw - i had been meaning to listen to these guys for a while, and i finally saw them on wednesday. they're on daytrotter, which i will recommend later.
christians + lions - started with ex-treos, and ending with ex-treos. i found that i kind of fell out of them when casey left. but anyway, ben potrykus knows how to make some damn fine alt-country. the new stuff is very '60s pop. i like it.

www.daytrotter.com - such a good website. i'll keep it mysterious. but suffice it to say that it's an orgasm in internet form.
not northeastern university - 'nuff said.

Frankly, the name scares me. Compare it to other bands...
ex-Receiving End of Sirens. Theatrical, cinematic rock that is just as focused on telling a story as it is on pleasing your eardrums. Some of the most creative, eclectic rock you can hear now.
