I just got my password back and I've got time to kill before my next class, so I figured this isn't that old to post.
Anyway, I've always wanted to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They've been around forever and are still just progressively getting better. It's unheard of these days, for a band to be around this long and putting out an album that's better than the last (which is, of course, opinion. My favorite is By the Way, and I'm only familiar with Blood Sugar Sex Magic and so forth.)
Gnarls Barkley opened and didn't impress me that much. Maybe because I'm not a fan, and I never got into that "Crazy" song, and I was just anticipating the RHCP. My show review is this: holy shit, I have never seen so many jam sessions in my life. They started with one and ended with one, with fifteen billion inbetween. And not short little intros, either; they went on for over five minutes. I can't believe how incredible of a band they have, as John Frusciante is arguably one of the top three North American guitarists today. Everyone knows how phenomenal Flea is on bass, and Chad even got his own time to shine with a killer drum solo. Anyway, who cares? Setlist:
1. Can't Stop
2. Dani California
3. Scar Tissue
4. Charlie
5. Havana Affair
6. If You Want Me To Stay/21st Century
7. Throw Away Your Television
8. Blood Sugar Sex Magic
9. How Can I Tell You (Cat Stevens Cover, John Frusicante solo acoustic)
10. Snow (Hey Oh)
11. Nobody Weird Like Me
12. Don't Forget Me
13. The Power of Equality
14. Hey
15. Californiacation
16. By the Way
--Encore--
17. Under the Bridge
18. Give It Away
Such an incredible show. The top songs were Can't Stop, By the Way, and Under the Bridge, but everything was just mindblowing. Don't Forget Me was a nice surprise too, as was Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I hate Hey, though, as it closes one of the discs on Stadium Arcadium right after Wet Sand, which I feel should have ended the disc. I would have preferred Wet Sand to Hey in the show, but it's nitpicking; there was absolutely nothing wrong with this performance. Great crowd, great energy from every single band member, and just a great show overall. I definitely recommend them to anyone.
