View Full Version : Don’t You Know That There’s a Difference (Between the Truth and What We’re Told)

I don't always keep a rigid structure to my songs, but here is a case of where I have. this is because i wrote the music first, then wrote the lyrics and melody for it. so that's why there's all the notation to it. its a lot more straight forward than most of my pieces, so i think it's easy to tell what its about. i also thought i'd post a recording of the song!!! its straight from midi, so i took the vocals out (they're done on saxophone). i apologise for it not sounding great. thanks for checking this out, i look forward to your opinion(s).

Verse 1 [00:07]:
Distraught in slumber,
(I don’t think we’ll ever wake up, we’ll ever wake)
To see through mouths so white.
Dormancy always played its part...
Until Now.

Chorus [00:38]:
Technically we’re just barely breathing, but,
The pulse has already been lost.

Verse 2 [00:55]:
Always seeking shelter,
But still the storm beats down harder,
(Acid mixes with water).
Can’t you see what’s happening?
What seemed like forever is here today.

Chorus [01:14]:
Technically we’re just barely breathing, but,
The pulse has already been lost.
LOST!

Chorus [01:46]:
Oh, technically we’re just barely breathing, but,
The pulse has already been lost.

The pulse has already been lost.

Bridge [02:27]:
Oh, don’t you know there’s a difference between the truth and what we’re told?
Don’t you know there’s a difference between the truth AND WHAT WE’RE TOLD!
I’m encapsulated with your beautiful lies,
And I’ve surrounded myself with these disgusting thoughts;
That a world could ever be destroyed.
A world where trust isn’t based on truth,
And guilt forms the core...

[03:18]
What seemed like forever is here today.

[03:46]
Can’t you see what’s happening?

This is really cool. I'm at school with free time right now, so I'm using the crappy shcool computers haha, meaning, I cannot download/listen to the music right now, but when I get a chance I'll be sure to do so.

Anyway, I thought the chorus part was really cool. Very simple, and basic, in terms of there only being two/three lines, but the chorus lyrics themselves were very good.

thanks guys... i would love it if you checked out the music and gave feedback chris. you'll see how the chorus fits in on the song, i only wish i was a good singer/had equipment to record then u'd see even more how everything fits.

thanks again both of you

As a whole, I think this fits together incredibly well. I really like how it flows too, awesome job.

I couldn't download the music, but I'll try again when I get on the PC with decent internet!

I liked the music, but I feel you could have done a lot more with the lyrics. However, I am intriuged as to how the melody will sound once you add the vocals. I found the beginning guitar part to be a bit dreary, but the rest I really enjoyed. The midi sounds good lol. What are you using? With that said, I also wish I had proper recording equipment and was a good singer.

thanks for the feedback.

yeah, i'm sure the lyrics seem a bit barren in some bits, but i'm sure the vocals would clear things up. i can understand why you thought that about the guitar on the verses, but as i said the vocals would make this sound better. i was a little reluctant to upload it without vocals because of stuff like this. i might actually try and record vocals over summer if i get bored...

i used guitar pro 5 for it. the drums are midi but everything else is RSE. it actually sounds decent enough on my pc i find :-)

yeay crappy demos, that'd be so cool! :-)
I currently hate gp5 (and it's on my top five addictions...) and I'v no idea of alternative programs like it :(
