Check below for an update from Texas Is The Reason (http://www.myspace.com/texasisthereason).
Twelve years ago this week, Texas is the Reason went to Boston and recorded the 3-song demo that became our 3-song EP. Wow.
Eleven years ago, today, Texas is the Reason played a show in Garrett's hometown of Buffalo, opening for our good friends in Snapcase. This morning, when we looked in our MySpace Inbox, Brandon wrote in to say that he has uploaded and posted a video of the show to his new weblog. It's worth a link:
Texas Is The Reason, live in Buffalo. April 20, 1996. (http://lakeeriemonster.blogspot.com/2007/04/test.html)
Also worth nothing: Do You Know Who You Are? came out that week. Eleven years ago, this week.
Finally, our talented friend and artist Jesse Ledoux — the man who designed the limited edition silkscreen commemorative posters for our 10-year-anniversary weekend in November — has put the final copies of the poster on sale. These are coming from his own personal stash. So if you missed out on buying one from our merch site, This is your last chance (http://www.patentpendingindustries.com/site/popup.php?id=183&gallery=21&artist=).
Our merch, of course, is still available from our partners at Merch Now (http://merchnow.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=m&Category_Code=TITR).
That's it for now. Be good, everyone. It's been real.

its so funny to me...i allllmost said 18 to catch the oldschool emo stragglers. curses. either way, on average, i was right. i wasn't saying "you kids don't know anything" i was just saying that most people under the age of, okay, 18 wouldn't know who they were...do you guys know Fifteen, Braid, Samiam? its just a matter of when you grew up/who you grew up with. i'm honestly interested in meeting young kids who like emo from when emo was an insult...

isn't/wasn't Samiam doing some stuff recently?? I thought I had heard about them playing shows, or writing about a year or so ago...could be way wrong though. we played with a band in Minnesota which I can't for the life of me remember their name, I think it was Audio something...anyways, it was Jeremy who was in Gratitude and the bassist was from Samiam....

i would agree with you. im sure more people have at least heard of braid though esp with bob nanna still being pretty active and them doing that reunion tour.
as for TITR it's sad that more people don't know how amazing this band was. the reunion show was untouchable when it comes to the best show of my life.
i cant really throw stones though, there are a lot of bands that i got into long after the band wagon left the station, but it doesnt mean i cant hold them just as close to my heart - even TITR, hell they broke up in 96/97. most kids on here (especially the younger ones) would probably be lying to say they were HUGE into TITR before they broke up. I got into them through a friend that is 6 or 7 years older than me and I thank him still. hha.

i don't think anyone under 20 can say they loved this band when they were still around, no matter how much you love them now. i'm not going to lie i had no clue who they were until i started posting on these boards, and i felt all cool thinking i was an exception because i listened to northstar. hah. i'm so happy i did though, because along with SDRE, this band is utterly amazing and basically the roots of the music i love now, even though i'm regrettably about a decade late.

haha i love how all these people under the age of 20 are trying to gain some cred by saying theyve been into the band for years.
im only a third year college student and even though ive been listening to this band for 4 years now, i feel like im way too young myself. the only reason ive known about them for so long is because the drummer went to the same highschool iwent to and one of the other guys in the band lived above the ice cream parlor a bunch of my friends used to work at a bunch of years ago. i always felt privileged to have been in an odd situation that kinda forced me to know about this band.
by the way the reunion show was amazing.

I was at the that show that is linked. It was the first time I heard Texas and I fell in love with them that day. I even asked the bass player if I could get a copy of the ep for a reduced rate or even free because I was broke. The only reason I was at the show was because my friend Chris wanted to see Snapcase and I felt like going to a show.

So be so quick to make assumptions eh?
Now the question remains. How many of the younger kids on here have older brothers/sisters that were into them and that's how you started listening to them at a young age? Totally not trying to start a battle here. I'm just curious because it's honestly how I started getting into this scene and I know kids that start young this way seems to be the general prognosis.
I got into these guys around 97 due to my best friends older brother playing them whenever he drove us around.

Okay, apparently what I said got a little misconstrued by some defensive people. I wasn't saying that it was impossible, I said I would be surprised. Your average kid these days doesn't have any appreciation for bands like Texas... or their mid-nineties counterparts. They love Saves the Day but they hadn’t listened to Lifetime until Pete Wentz started hyping them (which is totally cool to me because that means that, hopefully, a whole new generation will get into older music). I wasn't saying that kids are dumb or that I was cooler, I happened to be just old enough to try and be in with the cooler, older kids who happened to listen to bands like this. I’m only 22, I obviously wasn't deep in the scene back then. No one is doling out or revoking hipster points, I traded all of mine it for a sweet scarf back in 2000 when I wanted to be in the Get up Kids. all in all, if you're into music like this then get people to listen to it because, as hard as it is to see, the underground scene that I grew up in love with is dying away due to people not knowing where they come from...spread the word so next time I won't be so surprised when a post like this shows up between an update about Brendan Urie's new Noisepop side project and who Pete Wentz is currently sticking it to.
And before all of you FOB kids get pissed and defensive I have "they call kids like us vicious and carved out of stone" tattooed around my elbow in Pete's handwriting.
If I keep this up they're going to take away my horn rimmed glasses
