No offense to Rohan, but signing bands like this is why people download their music instead of buy it. There's no reason to pay for something that's so easily forgettable and sounds so similar to other bands on your iPod. I put a lot of blame on kids for downloading -- but I put some on the bands and labels too.
/Not saying it's not good for what it is -- but I think "what it is" has become part of the problem. *Just thinking out loud here.*

Great Point! Thats why Panic! at the Disco was such a failure and couldn't sell any cd's... cause they sound just like FOB...
oh wait...
If what you say were true bands like The Locust would be the #1 on billboard instead of Avril Lavigne (by the way... fans of her single, will LOVE HP's "My Philosophy"), but that just isn't happening is it?
We all know why you don't like the band, just keep the hating to yourself.

Well, I'd argue they don't sound "just like FOB" for starters - but further that up with arguing that the sound is unique enough to warrant more fans and further listens. The "FOB" take on pop-punk is still not as saturated as the straight up "pop" of bands like Holiday Parade, Run Kid Run, FM Static, Cartel, and on down the line of your latest purevolume.com voyage.
If what you say were true bands like The Locust would be the #1 on billboard instead of Avril Lavigne (by the way... fans of her single, will LOVE HP's "My Philosophy"), but that just isn't happening is it?
No, that's not what I'm saying at all. Re-read my post. You're smarter than this.

Nah, I think I'll keep voicing my opinion where ever the fuck I want.

Just like FOB? Brendan and Patrick's voices are similar. I think that's about where the similarities end. They're in the same genre sure but I don't think their sounds are that comparible. That being said I've never listened to Holiday Parade so I have no comment on that front.

I hate it when people say Panic! sounds like FOB. Im not a big fan of Panic but I am a really big fan of FOB (with the exception of their latest cd) and it angers me when people say they sound alike. They really aren't anything alike. Its like saying Underoath and Avenged Sevenfold are similiar because they scream.

wow. not like you care but you lost alot of respect from me. i think we can grow up. if i had a dime for every time you said something negative toward holiday parade i would be filty rich. everytime there is a post about this band on "your" site you flip out like a baby. seriously dude, we know you dont like holiday parade. ( hey everyone, jason fucking hates holiday parade!) now everyone is sure of it. you can be bigger then this. just keep the comments to yourself. we know how you feel about holiday parade already.
You'd have - at most - 1 dollar. There's been 10 posts (http://www.absolutepunk.net/tags/index.php?tag=/holiday%20parade/) about Holiday Parade; I have not posted in all of them.
Second - I don't "fucking hate" Holiday Parade.
Third - I believe it would be very hypocritical of me to not voice my opinion on this band - simply because a staff member is in the band. Especially when I "went out of my way" to say things about CIWWAF and The Higher. If I'm going to take a stance against certain variations of pop music, I should be consistent. Otherwise, someone would be calling me out just like you did for not saying anything.
I can't please everyone, and someone will complain regardless of which option I choose, therefore, I'm simply going to try and remain consistent on the issue for the time being.

Ok, I understand that, as I am on certain bands and styles of music as well. It just seems you are not being consistant because holiday parade was once recommended by you no? I understand views change about bands by actions or development of sound on a second or third release, if so is that the case?
The answer to your first question: No, which thereby negates your second.

Well ok then. Guess I was wrong and I apologize. I was just stating an observation in the last couple posts on this band and the comments you wrote against them. I understand as well as many others that its not all the time everyone will agree, nor be satisfied with a band, music style, or label. On the other hand, I really like this band and believe they have the potential to be something amazing. I do not agree to the fact that if they do indeed get signed to a major or indie label that they will have an impact on the amount of music being downloaded from the internet. In my opinion, it just seems more convenient for people to download from the internet reguardless of the style of music or genre. In several other cases kids have downloaded music from itunes because an album was out of stock or not available in stores.
example: best buy did not have any of yellowcards "one for the kids" cds in the store closest to me so i proceeded to download the album from itunes from the comfort of my home and computer.

I love "Crimson Red", but the rest makes me feel funny. I can see how this band would get huge though. I think it's cool that Jason voices his opinion on them despite the fact that Rohan is a staff member (and a good one...I like his posts). If that's how he feels then that's how he feels.

every band on this board should slug you when they see you for that comment. And just because it isnt brand new, or MCS, or some other band on this site, doesnt mean it isnt good. No one here is open minded about music outsite the "ap.net" genre, and taking it in context; which is sad actually.
this board is a pinhead to the masses of people that are exp[osed to music. people become too jaded because there might be 100 replies about a band. Say those 100 people bought the record, thats NOTHING.
Holiday Parade is going to be very sucessful and Rohan will be able to post his own version of cribs.

hmmmm Drive Thru might be a nice home for them seeing they are going to try to re-invent NFG.

isn't that illegal?
no, reaching out to promoters is OK, management is not allowed to confirm and sign off on contracts if the management company is located in NY and CA. We have someone doing that.
Dont worry about us
(edit: I dont think the booking/mgmt police are coming after percentages of roughly five bucks.)
cool, thanks for the info

You are so fucking wrong it's not even funny. People here listen to more music than you can even count. Seriously - pull your head out of your ass ... people on these boards listen to every genre, from every era, from every country. The musical tastes of our members is extremely - EXTREMELY diverse.
Holiday Parade has two idiots managing them - they can't go that far.

No.
And guess what - Jon Lally was standing right there during my "meeting" with Frank. He's said, countless times, how fucking stupid this "rumor" Frank started about that meeting is -- he was right there, and has the same recollection as I do: "Hey, what's up? Hey Kelsey. Man Hawthorne Heights fucking sucks. " <3 minute pause> "Well, uh, we're gonna go hang out with Casper ... see yeah."
You seriously need to stop. You're making yourself and every band you represent look like shit. I would be absolutely ashamed to have you as my "manager." I almost pity this band more than anything because they're working with you.

Back last summer when Frank told me that, I had IMed Kelsey and asked her. She denied Frank's story.

Im ashamed for you, that as the owner of this site, you have to stoop so low as to call out people on a personal level when they have taken ZERO personal shits at you. And this is YOUR opinion Jason.
I dont talk about your intelligence (as you continually do at me, sorry if I have horrible grammar but I would much rather speak on the phone than spend hours on end typing), I because I do think you have some good ideas and have stated that on a few occasions..
BTW: the answer to solving the music industry issues is just flat out lowering the price of a CD and having a flat rate across the board whether its Jay Z or Linkin Park. (that price can chnage for 2x CD CD/DVD combo etc etc)

Well, that's just flat out a lie. Are you serious? You're going to pull out that card right after your last post? You know people can read ... right? They can see your other posts ... they know you're lying..
And this is YOUR opinion Jason.
Of course it is - where did I ever imply that it wasn't!??!!?
