WARNING: THIS IS A LONG POST!
Well, this is my warped tour review. First off, we got there at about 9 and waited in line for 3 hours, which was alright. There were two main stages, and they alternated bands every half hour... we got in, and Lords Of Brooklyn played, and i swear, they have to be the worst band i have ever seen. Now to the good stuff. The Ataris! They opened with "Your Boyfriend Sucks", and played others..."so long astoria", "in this diary","unopened letter to the world","boys of summer", and of course, "san dimas", Up next were Me first and the gimmie gimmies, who i didn't watch. After that came DKM, who were really good, although I don't listen to them much...Then came the Used...they were actually really good, 10 times better than at Skate and Surf. I left their crowd to go to a side stage to see Brand New (they should have been on main!!!!)...then, I realize they hadn't played "box full" yet, so i went back in to absolutely go off during that song...THEY DIDN'T PLAY IT!...I was pissed about that...So, I'm late for Brand New, and I miss "Sic Transit Gloria" and "The Quiet Things", the two songs I wanted to hear most acoustic. They, however, were still really good...they played "Guernica", "Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot", "70x7", and "Soco Amaretto Lime", which was amazing, because it was, and also considering "we're gonna stay 18 forever", the ticket was a birthday gift, and i turn 18 on friday...that made me smile a bunch...then it was the starting line...they were really really really good...i had happened to be in a good pit, so that made it great...no pushing, just everyone havin a rockin good time...they played all the usual songs, "leaving", "up and go", "best of me", "a goodnight's sleep", "given the chance", "saddest girl story"...After that came the Mad Caddies, who are really good, I'd reccomend them to everyone...then face to face and poison the well played, i didn't watch them...then Thrice came on...they disappointed me...they didn't seem so energetic, and they didn't play "Silhouette", which i had been waiting to hear live...After them came Rancid, who I don't enjoy too much and didn't watch...then came face to face, who i didn't watch, and then pennywise, who were good, but i don't listen to them much... then came the suicide machines, who i didn't watch, but heard, and they sounded good...then came less than jake, who i didn't watch...i'll explain later...after that was glassjaw, who i watched from off to the side cause i wanted a good spot for taking back sunday...they sounded pretty good...taking back sunday kicked my ass...they were really good, but they were better at skate and surf...then, we leave the venue, and we're walking around by the buses with no luck...we go to the car, hang out for a while, then head back by the buses cause we figured that there'd be less security...i'm walking, and i see a guy standing by a bus talking to a few girls...i think to myself, "is that jesse lacey?"...as i'm walking by the other side of the bus, i confirm my thought...then i walked around the bus, went up to him, waited for him to finish talking with the other people, and then he turned to me...i told him great set, and asked about his leg (he'd hurt it a while back, and nizzle has had to play acoustic since)...he said he's getting an MRI tuesday, and he's gonna see what the doctor says...i asked if it's bad would he keep the acoustic thing going, and he said nah, he's sick of it...and he said after the upcoming tour with dashboard, the band is headlining a tour with hot rod circuit and isley...i asked if they were gonna do any dates with orange island, as i had heard, and he said they were gonna be on some of them...he was extremely polite, giving a quiet "thank you" after each compliment i gave, which were numerous...then, he said he had to meet a friend, and i had him sign my ticket...it's great when you meet the lead singer of your favorite band...this definitely increases my brand new fandom one hundred fold...my main gripe about warped was that there were too many kids, they over sold...and also, there were too many kids who think pushing is cool...skate and surf is a much much much better show...another thing is that there were too many stages and i missed a lot of bands (coheed, yellowcard, tsunami bomb, all american rejects, slick shoes)...overall though, worth the $30 ticket and the $3 lemonades...and I definitely can't wait to see Brand New again.
