List some bands you highly recommend and then some you don't understand the fuss about
Recommendations:
1). Story of the Year
2). Matchbook Romance
3). Bleed The Dream
4). Saosin
5). Boys Night Out
I Just Don't Understand The Fuss For:
1). Gatsby's American Dream
2). Acceptance
3). The Bled
4). Avenged Sevenfold (also Poison The Well, Hopesfall, etc.)
5). Over It (I probably need to listen to them more, though)

I gotta agree on most accounts. I can't see why everyone is up in arms over the bled and over it, but acceptance is okay. I think story of the year is actually UNDERRATED, but matchbook romance still isnt all that good, even the new stuff.

I don't get the fuss over the new Dashboard! WTF! Who cares? He's still all pathetically emo. So what's the problem?
I highly recommend Moneen and anything by Saves the Day.
I also don't get the Vendetta Red fuss. They're alright. Not grand or the best or anything. But alright. So why do people get so pissed off when someone says they LOVE vendetta red? Isn't this a place for musical diversity?

Moneen and Armor For Sleep deserve a lot more hype. Those are two amazing bands. I think Saosin and Matchbook Romance are amazing too, but I could see how someone could dislike both. Northstar is also really good and deserves a lot more attention.
I'm not going to say Brand New because they're getting so much hype right now (don't get me wrong...it's well deserved), but I am still going to say Thrice still hasn't received everything they deserve.
I'd also have to agree with the Vendetta Red statement. I loved "Shatterday" and picked up the album, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. I mean the album is solid and has some awesome tracks, but nothing to make me sit in awe. It was just a nice album, but nothing spectacular.

Agreed there. Taking back sunday deserves everything they get, as does yellowcard. However the same issue above is with yellowcard, they have the hype already. Someone hype up blueskymile!

Anyway. Dashboard is a fine act with incredible lyrics. Listen to Best Deceptions or Hands Down and tell me those aren't awesome lyrics. Hands Down changed my view on him completely, hell the entire unplugged album did. So shut up. As for the hype crap:
Doest Deserve:
Vendetta Red (nothing groundbreaking, just good live)
Yellowcard (new album was good, one for the kids was way better)
Thrice (actually I don't really know a lot about this band, whats a good song?)
Deserves:
Brand New (if not just for The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot)
the new blink (judging by Action, this album is gonna kick ass)
FM Static (easily the catchiest band EVER)
Fall Out BOy

Ummm....Feldman from Goldfinger just produced The Used. He didn't write their songs. They already had all of those songs written and on a demo...he just took them in the studio and recorded them and came up with ideas for effects (i.e., dildo on the pick ups). Story of the Year + The Used = KICK ARSE!!!

RECOMMEND
1. Blood Brothers=goodest ever
2. Black Eyes (crazy dancey shit: 2 basses, guitar, 2 drums, five vocalists...only five people.)
3. Cursive (I've only heard Ugly Organ. The cello makes this band sound really epic.)
4. Converge (Better than every other metalcore band. That means ETID, Poison the Well, all of them.)
5. Saetia (Good screamo, and yes, I mean SCREAMO. broke up already. the lyrics are really good and mostly not cliched shit. Crazy screaming voice, urgent speaking/singing voice, interesting rhythm section)
6. Hot Cross (ex-Saetia. VERY good rhythm section, cool guitar, but not over the top. Good solid weird songs.)
7. Shellac (They say they're a hard rock band. I don't care. They've got Steve Albini and some really interesting riffs going on. Repetitive like Big Black was repetitive. Check them out, they've been around awhile.)
8. Orchid (THE screamo band. Broke up.)
9. Dillinger Four (kudos to the other guy that mentioned them. The ONLY good pop-punk band.)
DO NOT LIKE
1. Yellowcard - they sound like good charlotte with bad violin to me.
2. A Static Lullaby - "dumbed down" screamo. this style has been done by better bands. Lyrics are a joke. Musically boring, but good for some light listening.
3. Boys Night Out - I checked out the EP. I like the first song, the rest just seem really bad. The singer's scream is dumb and makes everything sound the same.
4. Taking Back Sunday - Shitty pop-punk with two vocalists, is all. Lyrics aren't anything special, music isn't anything special. Grates on my nerves. All these pop punk singers sound the same to me.
5. Brand New - Brand New's first album wasn't great, but it was fun. The new one has so much melodramatic posturing that I laugh when I hear it. And it's got really bad guitar going on. When I hear that "DIE YOUNG AND SAVE YOURSELF" scream at the end of Sic Transit Gloria, i wince from the badness of it all.
6. Story of the Year - Don't they also go by "THE USED"?
7. From Autumn To Ashes - "metalcore"? more like...dumbcore.
BAD BAD BAD the WORST LYRICS EVER, shitty singing voice, FUCKING RETARDED riffs and song structures. This is one of the worst bands I've ever heard, and I've even heard the Village People.
How could ANYONE like Blink 182? I mean, I guess they play those three chords pretty well, but...

I totally agree with you about blink. Action is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good, I have been listening to it non-stop I absolutely cant wait for the new album.
How about a new question: band that lived up to all the hype:
Less Than Jake with anthem. Absolutely amazing and original sounding album which is quite the accomplishment since they've been around for 10+ years! Go LTJ!
maybeoneday, you're retarded.
thank you for outlining which words aren't actually words. i know. thank you also for sticking to your trademark "blink rulez" attitude: blink does not, in fact, "own" me. they "own" a generic style and dumb songs. they "own" the hearts of teenage girls. they "own" your brain. they do not "own" me,
3. dumbed, is yet again, not a word
learn how to use commas and i'll take your grammatical advice seriously.
here, i'll teach you. remove the phrase contained by the commas and see if your sentence makes sense.
"dumbed not a word". does that make sense? if you answered "no", then you're right. guess what you are if you answered "yes".
write it like this.
"dumbed is, yet again, not a word." check it, remove phrase in commas: "dumbed is not a word." make sense? you betcha.
we can write now! yay!

Man....I can't get over how some ppl don't like Taking Back Sunday. They are far from pop-punk with two vocalist, but to each his own. I just think they have some of great music and I just love seeing them live...I just have such a fun time. Their harmonies, duel vocals, and timing of everything falls together perfectly.
I don't get the hype over these bands, though:
Mae
MxPx
NOFX
Less Than Jake
Mae has one good song ("Summertime"), but "Destination:Beautiful" was one of the most disappointing albums I have ever bought (right along with "Love" by The Juliana Theory). And I just never have liked anything by the three (3) other bands. I guess I just can't get into them. That genre/style really isn't for me I guess.
Also, add:
RX Bandits
Allister
Home Grown
Steel Train
I can't stand those bands either.
And I did go back and listen to the Silverstein album and that is kind of disappointing. I'm not too impressed with it and there are only two (2) good songs on it. Glasseater is really good, though.
