Took me awhile to compile this list, but I've wanted to do it forever.
I picked Third Eye Blind's self-titled.

it's hard to pick just one. i wish i could say Enema, but it would be wrong to say Blink > (u2, chili peppers, 3rd eye blind, etc)

I based the list loosely on multi-platinum alternative/rock albums.

Downward Spiral is on there.
insomniac would get my vote for best album of the 90s, but off that list, definitely dookie.

I didn't know this. You're still missing a few. If you're actually talking best albums of the 90's, than this pretty inaccurate.

I went with Matchbox 20 - Yourself or Someone Like You. That's an album I still listen to pretty often. It was a hard choice though between that, Dizzy Up The Girl, The Colour and The Shape and Nevermind, but when it came down to it Matchbox 20 was the one I listened to most.

Sixteen Stone from Bush was one of the better albums of the 90's too IMO.

If you're looking for mainstream alternative rock like you said, you just about nailed it, and the ones you missed have already been said.

I love STP. i was close to choosing them.
Along with Blink, but i gotta be honest.
Pearl Jam is popular from the 90's, but no dice.
I went with Nevermind by Nirvana.

I voted for Third Eye Blind self-titled not because it's the best one, but because it's my favorite out of all those there.

Even Electioneering is better than everything Third Eye Blind have ever done.
that's one of the two or 3 songs off of ok computer that I've never heard, but I'm assuming it's down there with creep
Yes. And?
05/02/07, 11:54 AM
I'll go with Nirvana. I don't care how many people on this site don't like them, I do.
Fitter, Happier is better than Third Eye Blind's discography

It's close between "Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness" and "Evil Empire," but "Mellon Collie" wins.

Yeah why the hell is it Evil Empire instead of the Self Titled?
Well I only wanted to pick one from them, and EE debuted at number 1 and had Bulls on Parade. They also won a grammy for Tire Me off EE, though both albums went triple platinum.

Just realized these were missing:
Spice Girls - Spice
Spice Girls - Spiceworld
Backstreet Boys - Self-Titled
Backstreet Boys - Millenium
*NSYNC - Self-Titled
if you don't get it's sarcastic...
Send The Dawn

I'd recommend Alice In Chains "Jar of Flies"
And of course, HUM - You'd Prefer An Astronaut which I think beats everything aforementioned here.
The Seraphim

Voted for the Smashing Pumpkins, phenomenal album... but this list is really lacking... I have a bunch of "suggestions" but they are more or less opinions of mine and wouldn't really receive any support from you guys, haha.
Dizzy up the Girl had at least 6 songs on it that got major radio play. That says something. Does anyone know why Robbie is allowed to write songs for the band? I have never heard a song of his that was good.

Have you ever heard the Reggae tribute album to OK Computer?
No...
I need to know though.
Want me to hook you up?

definitely (What's The Story) Morning Glory? for me. Counting Crows should be on here, too. sweet poll otherwise, though.
Definitely some essential albums on this list but what about
in the aeroplane over the sea by neutral milk hotel or
the shape of punk to come by refused
i can't really think of many 90s records i love more than those except maybe make yourself by incubus.

Hum's You'd Prefer and Slint's Spiderland should be nominated.
My vote is for the Pumpkins.

And his voice is terrible, but the last album was really strong, much better then I expected.
