Y'all probably know Gregg Gillis, the mastermind behind (relatively) famed project Girl Talk (http://www.myspace.com/girltalkmusic). Well, I'm interviewing the chap when he comes up to Dartmouth next weekend, and I want your questions! Ask about his new remix project Trey Told 'Em (http://www.myspace.com/treytoldem), taking pictures with Paris (http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=6078136&albumID=0&imageID=9267943) Hilton, or being a biomedical engineer (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/feature/37785/Interview_Interview_Girl_Talk). Really, ask whatever you want.

Is it true that the majority of your samples are used without premission. If so how do you plan to react if anyone threatens legal action?

Also, when can we expect some new material?

I love this guy btw.

His thoughts about playing Coachella for the first time? I saw him on Saturday and it was quite the party. :]

Does/Would he consider making original beats/tracks on garageband or what-have-you and sample pre-existing songs with original work?

like the first question...how does he get permission from artists to use their songs and how does he get by when using songs without permission.

Can you ask him what he thinks the future of mash up music is?
How can we get a copy of your first CD?
How do you feel about so quickly being put in the "hip" scene? (ie. playing at pitchfork etc.)

thanks a lot!!

That is true. He answers those questions in the Pitchfork interview I think. I like the last one a lot though, because I'd like to know if Girl Talk stuff will yield to Trey Told 'Em.

Is this going to be his first Bonaroo?

Is his computer an old one?

See the Pitchfork interview. I think those answers are buried in there.

I like your first question. I think you can buy his older work here (http://illegalart.net/webshop/section.php?section=illegalart). I don't think he hit the "hip" scene too quickly, because he had tons of work beforehand. Is that your question?

Thanks guys!

legality for this type of music basically boils down to whether you take enough clips to create your own work. i don't know for sure but i'm guessing most artists enjoy girl talk and it's really not infringement anyway. god bless girl talk.
