well, your going to want a nice Condenser mic. I suggest an Audio Technica. Than you're going to need a preamp, with phantom power to support it. The Art Tube MP is really good for that, but depending on how much you're willing to spend. Just remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to recording equipment.
i've never used mics, i just plug the amp into the recorder.

oh yeah...and if youre really going to get into the recording thing, the Protools MBOX is essential. Also, w ith that, you wont need to buy the preamp because its built in. Only downside is it only records 2 tracks at a time....

same here sort of. it goes...
my bass to my amp.
my amp to our PA system.
PA system to our recording computer.
Because micing amps sounds cool. I don't know mics though...
check this site though. (http://shure.com/shurenotes/may2003/mic.asp#guitars)

Oh haha, yeah i know its confusing. Basically, a pre amp is required for the Condenser Mic to work. In addition to this, in enhances the sound, basically working as a mixer sorta. Here's a pretty decent affordable one: http://www.8thstreet.com/product.asp?ProductCode=7540&Category=Audio_Processors . You just plug the condenser mic into the preamp, and than you plug the preamp into your sound card.
