You have no idea...Jesse could not have cared less about this show. I love Brand New, but they were basically fucking around on stage. I've seen Brand New more times than I can count, so I wasn't really let down by the performance, I was more happy I caught this really strange/interesting set of theirs.
During the SECOND TIME playing "Degausser" he decided to sing almost entirely different lyrics. He barely sang (mostly just screaming). When he wasn't playing, Brian would be tossing his sticks to someone on the side of the stage and laughing, like a game of catch or something. Jesse also announced "this song is called 'Seventy Times Seven'" upon immediately going into "Passage to Bangkok".
One of the major things was: At one point Jesse said something along the lines of (might not be an exact quote) "There must be something better you could be doing with your Sunday morning...and your money"
I can't speak for the whole band, but at least Jesse CLEARLY did not want to be there. To say the least though, it was very entertaining. I laughed my ass off.

Personally, I was really pissed off at Brand New today. Who knows what was done to them to make them so angry that they would mess around like that, maybe the Taking Back Sunday rumor is true, but whatever it was, they shouldn't take it out on their fans like that. They went on stage for 40 minutes, played like 4 songs, including one twice, and then left without any explanation. The sign on the merch table is the straw that broke the camels back. At the very least they could have explained why they were so pissed off and acting like dicks.
I understand that there might have been problems that pissed Jesse and the crew off, but to waste their fans time and money like that is kind of ridiculous, especially those of us who got there extra early just to make sure we got a chance to see them. We didn't fuck you over, Brand New, so why fuck us over? I lost a ton of respect today for what has always been one of my favorite bands.

Sorry I'm gonna disagree with you. Your money wasn't wasted on Brand New...there were 50 other bands you could see for $35.....so you lost what $.80? Cry me a river.
Also, you should know that bands play better sets in actual venues...Festivals are made for fucking around....the fans do it, so I think the bands should be able to too. If you didnt catch them on their headlining tour it is your own fault.

while i agree with almost all of what you said, you would have to think that by now, brand new themselves know that theyre pretty much larger than life in regards to people wanting to see them. yes, they were only worth $.80 of the ticket price, yea everyone plays better in actual venues, yes, it is your fault to catch them on their headlining tour; but, some people who did see them in venues and on headlining tours, for some reason, still had brand new as their number one band to see at bamboozle and i don't think it's fair to those people... yes, i find this incident hilarious and yes, youre right about all that i said, but when it comes down to it, if they didnt have all those fans that came to watch them at 12:00 on a Sunday morning, they might not even be playing there to begin with, and i think they need to take something like that into consideration.

First off, everyone missed the joke about Brand New's merch sign cuz they went on first. It was a jab at the Bamboozle promoters. I was on a vendor list, so I was there before the gates opened, wandering around. The sign said "Brand New" at their merch table. Then, after they played, they added "Already Played, Go Home" in smaller letters - it was clearly written AFTER they played.
They got dicked over by having to play first, and they don't want to play YFW or Deja songs for the millionth time, it should be clear. I'd rather see a band play what THEY want to play and go into then what I want to hear and have it sound like shit. I.e., BOTH times they played Degausser were much much better then 70x7. I will be surprised if they EVER play it again. It became very clear to me that they don't want a teeny-bopper audience, but they want people to like their music, so I really think they're going more and more obscure to try to shed as many mainstream fans as possible. If you look at some of the bands favorite bands, it becomes clear that they all lived a life of obscurity. (Examples: Archers of Loaf & Neutral Milk Hotel to name two))
Secondly, TEN did not impress me. I would have figured they'd do something special about their last time playing together, but did nothing of the sort. It sounded like the few other times I've seen them. Don't get me wrong, they were tight and Ace's voice was on pitch all set, but it just wasn't special enough.
Third thought, Mae could be the nicest group of guys I've ever met. They took the time to acutally interact with fans at a signing they did, sponsered by The Aquarian and RecCenter.com (shameless plugs, haha). I was truly suprised by the humble nature of those dudes. Totally awesome. This goes for Sherwood as well, and the couple AP.net people at their signing that were awesome enough to let me line jump to meet Sherwood and go back to my vendors table, haha.
Fourth off, Bamboozle needs to go back to Asbury Park. Tillie Town better be a reality next year.

Im guessing the venue took at least 20%, maybe 30% of merch sales. When this happens, the bands unfortunately have to charge a bit more to make any sort of profit. It sucks, but it's just a reality of playing bigger venues.

It became very clear to me that they don't want a teeny-bopper audience, but they want people to like their music, so I really think they're going more and more obscure to try to shed as many mainstream fans as possible. If you look at some of the bands favorite bands, it becomes clear that they all lived a life of obscurity. (Examples: Archers of Loaf & Neutral Milk Hotel to name two))
Yeah, I think Degausser is my favorite song by them. So much more depth and meaning than high school drama like "70X7". They should've also busted out "Handcuffs" or "Jesus". Was annoying that the crowd was so pushy and people wanted to mosh and crowd surf during those songs.
Secondly, TEN did not impress me. I would have figured they'd do something special about their last time playing together, but did nothing of the sort. It sounded like the few other times I've seen them. Don't get me wrong, they were tight and Ace's voice was on pitch all set, but it just wasn't special enough.
Probably because this band isn't really anything that special. Typical NJ-style "emotional" music.
Fourth off, Bamboozle needs to go back to Asbury Park. Tillie Town better be a reality next year.
Why? Giants Stadium is closer to Manhattan which is a central location for the tri-state area. Asbury Park is inconvenient for most people, has a crazy fire marshall, not a lot of places to stay and just shitty all around. Plus, do you really want to have to eat at the Howard Johnson's where someone with two teeth yells at you?

Why?
Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere. Skate and Surf and The first Bamboozle felt like something really special and different. Now Bamboozle just feels like another warped tour.

I'd say more like Commit This to Memory. It reminded me a lot of "Make Out Kids", esp at the beginning. I've only heard it once, though, so I could be way off.
That, followed by the next person's video I'm quoting, let me down. I miss the moog. :(

sounds a lil different than their other stuff in my opinion. im not sure if i like it yet.
Once upon a time, Jesse actually played his moog. I enjoyed their performances mostly because he was so entertaining to watch.

WHY does anyone even bother to mention Linkin Park. You've all (well, mostly all) grown up, and don't listen to them anymore. They were awful then, and they're terrible now.
They are radio rock and played their fugly radio singles as a set.
What's the draw? I don't understand it.

Amen.
Bamboozle has its place, since they make a good amount of money off it to ensure that we have more shows, which I'm totally cool with and I understand. But its Warped Tour a la Max Cruise.

Yeah, it felt real special when they wouldn't let you inside the main stage area or having to hang out in the shitty dungeons of Asbury Park......Face it. Giants Stadium is more convenient. Not that I love that place either (I would vote to have it on Randalls Island in NYC) but it's closer to NYC which is the whole reason why this fest is over here.

Yeah...and it was real smart to have kids pay an extra 25 bucks alongside the 40 just to get an elite pass to DEFINITELY get to see bands in the bubble. My girlfriend and I almost missed Amber Pacific because they were "over the limit of people inside the bubble." Only problem was most of the people in there were just sleeping on the turf and getting out of the sun instead of enjoying the band.

It was more upbeat and fast. I enjoyed them they were solid. And about the Spill Canvas set, I was upset that they didn't play All Hail. That's like a staple song for them.
Mae played these songs (not in order)
Painless
Anything
Summertime
New Song
Embers and Evelopes
Suspension
Someone Else's Arm
I think they played one or two more, not sure.
They didnt play it either day? that is NOT a good sign. I might have to have a talk with Nick lol

RX BANDITS WERE AMAZING
They had to be the most amazing band at the entire festival.
Envy On the Coast was playing to the stage directly to the right of them,
And more people were cheering for the Bandits setting up over anything during Envys set.
RX Bandits set was suppose to end at 5:50 and they finished their "last song" at 5:51.
but eveyone in the crowd was pissed off that they didnt get Decrescendo in,
so the fans started the good ol' "one more song" chant. the loudest I heard all day
and the bamboozle stage hands put the mics back up and let them play.
they ended Decrescendo at 5:57, giving the horrible hawthorne heights only 23 minutes to play.
so everything worked out for the better.
lol
im not sure 100% of the setlist, but it included:
And The Battle Begun
Only For The Night
Sell You Beautiful
Decrescendo
To Our Unborn Daughters
i believe there were 2 more songs.
but anyways, they were amazing.

That's not cool either, but at the end of the day, you can wander anywhere you wanted (except for that one section) and see whichever band you chose. Not so for Asbury Park.

tell me about it
let bamboozle keep my chem and red jumpsuit and linkin park and find some other similar bands, but then ship bands like saves the day, say anything, jacks mannequin, brand new, relient k, mae, and new found glory to asbury park to have a wonderful jersey shore spring show for three nights. and while theyre at it, bring back bands like less than jake, bouncing souls, lucky boys confusion, etc. even taking back sunday can stay with the whole bamboozle thing, i still like them but theyre more along the mainstream lines now.

oh...pictures i took. i only went sunday and got there around 6 because i was at the rangers game watching them lose. :( i had the richter jersey on.
but i got a bunch of jacks, who i was really there for. i also got a couple of tbs, then i gave the camera to my friend sitting on my shoulders, and she got some of linkin park. i didnt wanna stay around for lp, they werent bad though. unless they just played the album, it sounded like they were a studio recording.

bamboozle was my 3rd time seeing MCS and I've never seen Jesse so energetic. The whole set (when he wasn't playing the moog) he was running around, clapping, yelling at the top of his lungs, and at several points he picked up a mic as if he was about to sing then laughed.

I didn't say that he's a boring performer, because he's far from - when he's actually playing, though, that's when he's at his best. I've seen Motion City at least five times (maybe more), and four were prior to Commit This To Memory. Those four shows were the best MCS performances for me. What I loved about I Am The Movie was how much of a role Jesse had in the actual music and performances. Now, I lack the motivation to go out of my way to watch them live because I doubt the energy source (for me) would be there anymore. Commit This To Memory seemed to cut back on Jesse's role in the music, and that honestly was a reason that album didn't attract my ears. I can't help but think that's how Even If It Kills Me will be like, but who's to say, yet?

People had to pay to get elite passes? I got one on Saturday morning, they were just handing them out of a shoebox to anyone who asked.
But I agree, the idea of the bubble is stupid. There were definitely more people in there just lying down than watching the bands performing.

Definitely one of the best bands out there.

First admendment. He can say whatever the hell he wants.
Also, note the use of "we", including himself, and his band, in the comment. It was a clear reference to a lack of religion that is a common theme among the new album, and probably something he thinks about a lot.
