thing is, it doesn't look awful. but i fucking hate sequels to movies that were wrapped up so nicely the first time around. especially when nobody from the first one is involved.
it's just an attempt to cash in on the popularity of one of my favorite movies ever.
if it were named anything else, i'd probably be excited to see it.

I am definatly going to see it.
I thought the same as you until I started reading reviews, which have been pretty amazing.
Empire (the only magazine I trust with film reviews at all) gave it 4 out of 5.

danny boyle is a cool enough guy! i luv all his movies!
funny thing,
i am watching 28 DAYS later right now.
i rented it because i knew the sequel was coming up.
i paused it after the soldiers went out of the base and shot the zombie things...
because....
i realized i hadn't been on here this morning :|

Its actually getting good reviews; plus just because I really enjoyed 28 Days Later I'll go.
it's getting better reviews than I remember 28 days later did when it first came out... people were on the fence about it. Then I remember it hitting dvd and every male in my town/high school going nuts over it and watching it everyday after school lol.

Well today the good folks over at Fox Atomic gave me a call to tell me that we have it all wrong. Apparently Boyle is heavily involved in the production of 28 Weeks Later and while he’s not directing it, they say he’s actually shooting parts of it himself, even going so far as to serve as second AD on the movie (http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Danny-Boyle-Shot-Part-Of-28-Weeks-Later-4834.html#). Further, Fox Atomic insists that the film’s new director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, was hand picked by Boyle himself. Even better, 28 Days Later’s screenwriter (http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Danny-Boyle-Shot-Part-Of-28-Weeks-Later-4834.html#) Alex Garland is also serving in a producer role, and according to Fox is also heavily involved in making 28 Weeks Later happen. I'm really excited to see this movie, when I saw the trailer for 28 Days I figured it would suck, but I saw it on a whim and loved it
I'm kinda sad that the bigger budget meant this one wasn't filmed in digital
It will be interesting to see if they address the issue of whether or not the plague got off the island and spread to any other parts of the world
(Say a ship took off with a rage victim and spread to everyone on board and the boat crashed onto a shore somewhere, what happened then??)

It's not too bad. not quite as good as 28 days, but a good follow up. It essentially looks realistically at what would happen if an outbreak actually occurred. Aside from a couple minor annoyances and shoddy camera work imo, I was happy with it. And I could've done without the last ten or twenty seconds of the end.

Very underwhelmed by this movie.
The characters were good, but the action wasn't anything special and all around just didn't scare me.

I was really suprised by this movie, and didn't leave with any negative feelings towards it, which is odd for a horror movie. They did a good job at keeping the same gritty feel and the same kind of character development that Boyle accomplished. I'll be seeing 28 Months Later...it's bound to happen.

it should have a sequel as there is no true ending to this movie or at least no closure

Well obviously the boy spread the virus somehow, and I mean, if this movie is any hint as to how they handle things, I imagine they just suppress it in France somehow, or "exterminate"
and coming from me with no true visuals, that just seems lame.

Well you also didn't think it was worth it (it being the price of admission I assume, or your time perhaps). I enjoyed it and felt it was worth my time and money and a worthy sequel at that. I definitely agree about the score. That's something that I was noticing and enjoying through out the entire movie.
And as far as the ending goes They should have ended the movie watching the helicopter leave with the kids, instead showing that last twenty seconds in France. That basically kills the entire point of the movie, being get the kids out and maybe find a cure, and leave it to our imagination if a cure is found or there is another outbreak. It would still be left open to continue with another sequel if they really want without having to show the France bit.

Good movie, not as good as the first one to me, but I really enjoyed it. It's a bit different feeling than the first, and the camera really got annoying when the infected were attacking. If I had to rate this move out of 10 I'd give it an 8/10. And the first one would probably be 9.3/10

i realized that more when it came closer to coming out. he did a lot of press for it.
he's also the first one i heard mention wanting to do 28 months later.
still, i don't think i'm gonna see it. i'm generally against sequels to movies that weren't originally planned to have sequels to them.

I liked this, a lot. I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the first or expectations, but I left the theater very content, which is more than I can say for some recent films *coughspideythreecough*
And, certain scenes.....
Everything involving the husband and wife before, during, and after he gets infected was great and very well done. How fucking sad was it that, after everything the woman went through and survived, she dies like that, defenseless and strapped to a table. Brilliant.
The scenes of the soldiers losing control, and having to kill everyone, and the sniper not being able to handle it - excellent.
The same sniper saving the car, and you just have time to think, oh wow, he might HOLY FUCK HOLY SHIT THEY LIT HIM UP WOW OH WOW HE'S ON FIRE! and....dead.
The helicopter slicing and dicing -admit it, that was cool.
My two qualms with the film, at this point, center mostly on plot. I didn't like the ending much, and the dad being a fucking uber-zombie, and stalking them throughout London, I felt was very, very lame.
Otherwise, I can't believe some don't like the action in this movie. I thought it kicked all kinds of ass.
I, for the most part, agree with all of those spoilers.

What was the song in the beginning in the movie when the father was on the boat trying to escape? It appeared again toward the end and was heavily used in it's predecessor. It sounds like a Muse song but i'm pretty sure it isn't.
Also, this movie was a great sequel. I wonder how the virus managed to get out of Britain?

That movie kicked all kinds of ass. It wasn't as good as 28 Days Later, but man, it was a good one. Not going to get into any depth or spoilers, but that was a very successful follow up to a movie that really didn't need a follow up. and...the boy got in the helicopter, the helicopter flew out to sea...the closest land mass to London outside of the UK being France. So, they obviously landed/crashed and the boy infected others

ok havent really read this thread yet but i just wanted to say that i really enjoyed this movie and thought it was an excellent sequal. they could of fucked up the plot with them bringing people back into london but i thought they handled that part very well. all the action scenes were pretty intense but the shaky camera got annoying in some parts just cause you really couldnt see what's going on.
the helicopter part was cool but i had a feeling they were going to pull a Grindhouse (or did Grindhouse rip them off? Grindhouse gets the benefit of the doubt for being out first haha). Still, it looked a lot more realistic and is a badass fucking shot anyways.
I really didn't like how the dad was stalking his kids... I mean aren't these dudes supposed to be so filled with rage that they can't control their thoughts? Wouldn't he just attack them on sight instead of being all sneaky about it? Didn't make sense but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the movie.
I didn't like the very last scene of the movie. I mean it's cool and all to see them running thru Paris but I would of liked them to of just cut that part out and let the audience decide if the ending was a happy one or a sad one. I think that part just dumbed down the movie and just really wasn't necessary to address until, if they do, make a third one.
