First let me say that it was definitely worth the six hour drive from my house in AZ to get to see one of my favorite bands for the first time ever. If you have the chance to go to either show don't miss it.
After sitting through the horrible rap stylings of Sparrow Love Crew, the decent Hopefield, and the not even decent Higher, Name Taken came on after a short set up. It was exciting to see the band bust out into Cover Up and Hold On For Your Dearest Life. The crowd took over the gang vocals during the second verse and it sounded amazing. Now I was not expecting to hear new songs, but I was more than excited. The new songs sounded like vintage Name Taken, except slowed down in the verses. The third new song had Chad and one of the guitarists switch instruments. Drive, Drive, Drive contained a longer bridge and after the song the band left the stage. They came back on to play Panic and Clear and Conscious, which I think I heard one of the guitarists say that they had never played live before. I was a little dissapointed that they only played 11 songs and none of the older stuff, but it was worth it. Chad made the announcement that if they were "hypothetically coming back" would the crowd accept the new songs. I think that that went over well. If Name Taken is coming back I am more than happy to support them and if the new songs are any indication of what is to come in the future I say bring it on and welcome back.
