First let me say that it was definitely worth the six hour drive from my house in AZ to get to see one of my favorite bands for the first time ever. If you have the chance to go to either show don't miss it.

After sitting through the horrible rap stylings of Sparrow Love Crew, the decent Hopefield, and the not even decent Higher, Name Taken came on after a short set up. It was exciting to see the band bust out into Cover Up and Hold On For Your Dearest Life. The crowd took over the gang vocals during the second verse and it sounded amazing. Now I was not expecting to hear new songs, but I was more than excited. The new songs sounded like vintage Name Taken, except slowed down in the verses. The third new song had Chad and one of the guitarists switch instruments. Drive, Drive, Drive contained a longer bridge and after the song the band left the stage. They came back on to play Panic and Clear and Conscious, which I think I heard one of the guitarists say that they had never played live before. I was a little dissapointed that they only played 11 songs and none of the older stuff, but it was worth it. Chad made the announcement that if they were "hypothetically coming back" would the crowd accept the new songs. I think that that went over well. If Name Taken is coming back I am more than happy to support them and if the new songs are any indication of what is to come in the future I say bring it on and welcome back.

They didnt play any older songs, like from the silent game EP, I was preety dissapointed. They would tease by just playing the intro of "The stupid chad" or "Safety of Routine." But it was a good show. The new songs were decent. After the last new song, chad said, "How would you feel if we did come back, hypothetically speaking? Would you like it if we sounded like this?" So it looks like they are going to come back for good. Any other thoughts?

the crowd was pretty excited when he asked if they would be cool if they came back....even though they didn't seem too enthusiastic about the new songs?

I'm sad they didn't play the safety of routine...it'll be probably be on tonight's setlist but I had a ticket for last night.

i thought it was a great show. chad's voice sounded really good as opposed to their last few shows after they got bigger and started touring (in that stage, his voice started cracking a lot).

the new songs were pretty okay. the last one was amazing. i'd love to hear it recorded.

i really would've liked to have heard "a year spent cold" though.

oh and i would've loved to see danni behind the kit again.

Me too. The three songs that they didn't play from Hold On were my three favorites off that record.

No, it was a kid who plays/played in another local band. I'm not sure what band. He was pretty good though.

Not all SoCal people, just you.
I also find it funny that you have an icon of the band Lydia, who just so happens to be from my fucking home town.
