Jason: Name and what you do in the band?

Jesse: Okay, well i'm jesse and i sing as well as play guitar. Garrett plays the bass. Vin plays guitar. Brian plays drums. Oh, and Vin and Garrett also add additional vocals.

Jason: Ages?

Jesse: uh, okay we are 23, 21, 20, and 18. but i won't tell you who is what. No, actually we are all 18.

Jason: Can you give me a little history about the band.. how you started, stuff like that?

Jesse: well, Garrett, Brian and i had all been together previously called the Rookie Lot, which also included our friend Brandon who now plays guitar in the Movielife. Anyway, that broke up and after all of us not playing together for a while we kind of got antsy and we started rehearsing again. Just informal, in the basement, kind of stuff. But we started liking the songs we were writing, so we recruited Vin who was in a band called One Last Goodbye, recorded a demo, and started playing shows.

Jason: The band's name .. what's the story behind it? (the most cliche question ever.. but, I'm dying to know)

Jesse: yeah.. none of us really know the real answer to that. it's actually a name that Brian and Brandon came up with a while ago. I suppose it's somewhat in jest because nothing about the band is really that new. i mean the line-up (me, garrett, brian) isn't new. And we weren't trying to break ground with a new kind of sound or anything. And even some of the songs we play are songs that we wrote literally years ago, and are just now getting the chance to play. so yeah, i don't know. i like the name i guess. Plans for the future? Tours .. etc. well we've been touring pretty consistantly for the last few months or so. I don't think we plan on deviating from that schedule very much. Our record comes out the second week of October and i know that's something we've all been waiting for rather anxiously. I'm also pretty sure that we have a split, 4 song cd coming out with Reggie and the Full Effect later this year. We all plan to keep growing our hair, accept me, i'm kinda torn. And there's other stuff but it's secret.

Jason: What bands would you say have been your biggest influences?

Jesse: eh.. i don't know. I don't like to speak for the other guys on this topic. Off the bet i'd probably say Lifetime, Foo Fighters, The Cars, The Smiths, there are a few more obscure ones that i'm probably forgetting. If you had a playlist from the stuff we listen to in the van it would probably go something like: Squeeze. Saves the Day. Modest Mouse. Handsome Boy Modeling School. Soulwax. HotRod Circuit. Esthero. Green Day...blah blah blah. I'll shutup now.

Jason: Any particular bands you want to tour with?

Jesse: Foo Fighters, Bjork, Built to Spill, Morrissey, Junior Mafia, and The Reunion Show. Doesn't really mean it's going to happen... Oh, and Vin would like to hang out with Del the Funky Homosapien. And we really wish we got to hang out with Hotrod Circuit more often.

Jason: NSync or Backstreet?

Jesse: In the old days we all woulda said NSync. But Timberlake has been a real ass lately i think. It sucks too cause i used to be way down with that kid. So know i gotta say O-town.

Jason: A lot of your songs deal with love, love lost .. and basic teenage angst.. are most of these tales true stories?

Jesse: I think it's really cool when people can write from a fictional stand point. Unfortunately i can't do it at all. you could take any line from any song and i could probably tell you in detail what i was thinking about when i wrote it and then date and time it took place. It's more of a curse than anything.

Jason: The last track on your new CD .. holds more meaning to me then possibly any song ever written -- it truly is classic (especially with my going off to college, leaving my GF and friends behind) -- can you tell me the story behind it?

Jesse: yeah, i originally wrote that song for my friend Peter. He's one of the only kids who really recognizes the way we, as well as all our friends, have changed in the last couple years. It's something we used to sit up and talk about all night. But also, about the time i was writing it i had just started seeing my girlfriend. And as it turned out i remember alot of people giving her alot shit for wanting to be with me. But it was only cause they were being spiteful, and old, and envious. Cause they are just boring people. That's where the last lines in the song came from. Those are my favorite.

Jason: Who in the band is the biggest nerd?

Jesse: I would have to say Brian is the biggest nerd. But Garrett is a moron. Vin is a jerk. And I'm a dork as well as an idiot.

Jason: Shoutouts?

Jesse: yeah, what's up to Fred at Triple Crown, Kevin and Adam, The Reunion Show, HotRod Circuit, Stopwatch, The Movielife, Jenna, Meri, Peter, Megan, Woods, Oklahoma Tim, and the rest of our friends and families. And thank you very much.
