everyone loves these legendary british rockers. townshend was such a creative energy, songwriter & solid guitarist, moon's drumming was outstanding, entwistle's clever & thumping bass, daltrey's rough rock vocals (that scream coming to the end of 'won't get fooled again' is so damn cool). when they were all bought together it led to such a sweet combination of creativity & ...awesomeness haha
live at leeds, is one of my absolute favourite live albums, just so good. rumor has it, in their prime, they were one of the greatest live bands & after hearing that album i'm not sure how you could disagree haha. as for favourite studio album, would have to be who's next

well when they were on tour for Quadrophenia Keith Moon passed out behind his drum set towards the last few numbers. so at first Daltrey and Townshend were doing it solo then Townshend asked the croud if there were any drummers out in the audience. they picked out some 19 year old kid on the side of the stage and he did the rest of the set with them. this show was relativley close to me. my dad may have been there.

2 pages? BLAH. Wish I would have found this thread earlier Craig. I almost made a thread because the search function never shows a Who thread. I finally decided to check the Official Threads page and found this. As always, you have great taste. Miss seeing you around here man!
Anyways, one of the greatest bands EVER. Amazing musicians, great discography. Favorite record would probably be "Who's Next" followed by "Quadrophenia" and "Tommy". "Who Are You" is solid as well.
Watching live performances of this band on Youtube pisses me off that I'll never be able see them in their prime. Amazing energy. Doesn't get any better then watching these guys on stage.
For the record, The Who > Led Zeppelin.

You couldn't have bumped this thread at a better time mate. When I got up this morning I threw on Quadrophenia. I absolutely adore this band, & I've always held them as a member of the "the big 3" in punk rock music; The Clash, The Ramones, & The Who (rather than the Sex Pistols). Such an awesome, raw, passionate, intense band. Love everything about their music.

Townsend's mic should have been lower. He half-assed all his backing vox and he was louder than Daltry. Fail, CBS.

The whole Super Bowl performance (whoever is playing it) is a clusterfuck. They have what? 10-15 mins to get EVERYTHING ready. There's not much room for error. Also, I remember that Springsteen was playing to a backing track with live vocals when they played. I'm curious if The Who did that cause it didn't sound like it.
