when i was younger, my step dad would always listen to 70 and 80's metal such as iron maiden, black sabbath, early metallica, pantera, and slayer. my dad would always play beatles, r.e.m., rush, the stones, and the police. so i guess thats what got me into music when i was younger. as of more current bands i'd have to say i owe it in large part to blink.

Same here. I remember seeing the video for "Salvation" and really liking the sound. Although, being like 11 years old, I had no idea what I was listening to. Then "Longview" broke, and it was all over from there...

Rush because of my dad.
Millencolin because of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

Michael Jackson literally got me liking music...parents gave me his greatest hits when I was 4...

Then soon after, I became a big fan of Wierd Al...

I also grew up listening to the local classic rock station on the radio...because of my dad.

Around age 10 I began searching for other kinds of music...branching out, and I found my own music interests.

The first band to pull me away from those other bands was Linkin Park. Another was Chevelle.

the Beatles, and later, the Rolling Stones

Band that got me into hard rock:

and then, I got into a lot of punk rock through the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater soundtracks.

Right on, bro! haha I love that one. Definatley one of my favorite BR songs, and a great song to skate to...well, to virtually skate to I guess haha. Since my real-life skillz on a board are all whack ahha.

But yeah, I remember the first time that the original THPS game was released, my friends and I were at a birthday party, and stayed up all night playing that game haha.

we uses to play it nonstop though...thats one of those classics for friends to compete agianst and try to get high score..

Hahaha, that's pretty much exactly what happened with me and my friends. It was an overnight birthday party, where we sat up all night eating cake, Dorritos, drinking Pepsi, and going on those Tony Hawk binges haha. My friends and I kept trying to beat each other's high scores.

...then I woke up the next morning with a headache, and the shits.

I was actually reading a magazine, I can't remember which one...and they seemed pretty interesting, so I decided to check them out. And I'm not giving them credit for being that band, just because they're my favorite band. I was never into music very much before I got into them. Of course...Evanescence's "Fallen" was the first cd I ever liked the whole way through, so I guess they get a bit of credit, as well.

The Beatles, my mom made me listen to "1" and I loved it, and around the same time, *N Sync. I was 9-10ish.

then AFI in '01 and TBS a bit later... Decade is still my fave music video of all time.

Enema of the State by Blink 182 got me addicted to music. I got that album during the summer following 4th grade. I was a bit young to understand a handfull of their jokes but there was something about that record that grabbed into it and made me completely OBSESSED. Shortly after Blink I got into the likes of The Offspring, Rancid, Sum 41, New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Goldfinger, etc. That's basically where it started, though I hardly listen to ANY of those bands anymore.

Well, I gues i would have to say that Fall Out Boy & My Chemical Romance were the first punk rock/alternative kinda bands I listened to. Before I got into them i was a hardcore rap/hip-hop fan. But after listening to them, i slowly migratedaway from rap/hip-hop towards rock, alternative, etc.
