Anyone else take this test and bomb the writing section without the calculator?

I took this last year and got a 5 on it, but I don't think we ever got results of what we got wrong or right. I thought the writing was the hardest, but overall it wasn't too bad.

there was one question that absolutely killed me, it was f(x): (e^-t)(sin(x)).....solve A in the equation Af''(x) + f'(x) + f(x) = 0
My friend was bitching like crazy about it today at lunch.
my friend screwed himself, he thought he did so good on this test, but he copied off a dumbass.

I took it three years ago and got a five. 19 out of 24 kids in my class got fives...our teacher was easily the best in the universe.

I took it like 5 years ago and got a 5 without studying. It was a breeze.

I took it 2 years ago and got a 2 on it.. but then I took the Pitt exams/ final while a senior too, and got a B in it, so I still got the credit.
AP calc test is known for being a breeze-- esp since my teacher has extremely high passing rates... like 95% of kids pass and about 85% gets 4s and 5s. She has given us every free response section since like '95... the free response this year was NOTHING like past years. It was so fucking hard. The only thing that was anything like the usual free response was #1 with the area and volume of the curves.
I'm assuming though that the curve was be A+. Same thing happenned with Stats free response last year and I ended up with a 4 even though I left half my free response blank hahah. Apparently it was the hardest Stats test in 20 years. All I have to say is: FUCK COLLEGEBOARD

LOL that was the one problem I could do. You just find the f''(x) and f'(x), plug it in and find A which was like 1/2. The rest of the problems invovled like no knowledge of Calculus. You just had to be an EXTREMELY logical thinker and figure out the problems.
It was definitely difficult with a couple unusual problems. I was feeling really confident after the multiple choice and then I felt that I got raped a bit by the free response. I then remembered that I'm taking the same test everyone else is and with the curve I'm still expecting a 4-5
Yes, the free response was massive rapage.

Took this 2 years ago and made a five on both the BC and AB sections, although I'd probably get a three if I took it now. Thank god for that test though, I'm glad I didn't have to take Calc 1 here at Tech.

the proctor at my dad's school fucked up & took 10 minutes off the free response section. he's pretty pissed.

I took it last year and pretty much raped it. It was a joke. It was the AB test, sure, but that's just because my school didn't offer the BC course and I didn't want to teach it to myself. And after taking what would be the BC course in college this year, I'm pretty sure I would have got a 5 on that part too had I learned it in HS.
But God damn do I hate linear algebra.

Since we're talkin calc, anyone really good at antiderivatives? like say the antiderivative of something like
................1
------------------------------ . dt?
cos^2t . (3tan(t) + 2)^1/2

the word calculus makes me unhappy. add "ap" onto that and :stars:.
i'll stick with breezing through ap english lanuage.

AP English Lang was much easier than I expected.

what exactly is AP?

what exactly is AP?
it stands for Advanced Placement....its a college level course in high school that students take and eventually take an AP test on that subject in May, that is scored on a scale of 1 through 5. Depending on the score you get, you can receive college credit for it.

what in God's name....
who needs this shit? yeah, yeah...engineers, mathmatcians, etc. but 'cmon. they should set up majors in high school, so the kids who want to go through this shit(and go on to get jobs that pay TONS) can do so, and spare the rest of us. Addtion, subtraction, multiplication, and occasionally divison, is all you need. Yeah, I'm dumb.:dunce:

um AP calc is not a required course for students....the majority of students who do take this course are planning on using this sort of math in college and the future, myself included

Assuming thats what you meant, I'm not that good, I can just put em into automatic integral finders ( http://integrals.wolfram.com/index.jsp)
xsec(2t)/((3tan(t)+2)^(1/2))

you are dumb but it's ok. I think you bring up a decent point but usually with AP classes, students are allowed to pick and choose which you want to take and which you don't. And when you go to college, most schools require you to take some sort of introductory science, math, english, and social science so AP classes like this can help you get out of taking it in college.

eh this one isn't that hard. let u = 3tan(t) + 2, and then du = 3(sec(t))^2 dt. you should be able to get it from that.
