This is for the Honda Civic Tour with Fall Out Boy, Plus 44, The Academy Is..., Paul Wall, and Cobra Starship in Bonner Springs, KS at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on 5/12/07.
Note: I actually obtained the set lists-so all songs are accurate and in order of performance.
KC started off hot, but if fortunately cooled down by the time The Academy Is... came on. So props to those diehard that came out for Cobra because they played an awesome and energetic set.
The local band that won the contest was Go Crash Audio. I have no idea what they played, but they sounded alright. They made some Ashlee Simpson jokes that either had Pete laughing backstage or pissed that they won the contest. The way the jokes were, it could have gone either way.
Cobra Starship is such a fun band to watch. The songs are very easy to dance to and the band has great crowd interaction. It is hard not to enjoy them even if their music isn't your because they are just fun to watch.
They played the following:
Keep It Simple
It's Warmer in the Basement
(Speed It Up) It's Amateur Night at the Apollo Creed
Church of Hot Addiction
The Ballad of Big Poppa and Diamond Girl
Send My Love to the Dancefloor, I'll See You in Hell (Hey Mister DJ)
Bring It (Snakes on a Plane)
Snakes On Plane sounds awesome with William Beckett. Dirty covered Travis's part.
I don't like rap/hip-hop so I have no idea what Paul Wall played. It seemed like, "Put Your Hands Up" was the primary lyric in all his songs.
The Academy Is... sounded so great and they mentioned a headlining fall tour (yay!).
They played:
The Phrase that Pays
LAX to O'hare
Black Mamba
Neighbors
Slow Down
Everything We Had (for the first time live)
We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands
Checkmarks
Plus-44-not too bad, but being front row I think I was too worried that Travis's spit might hit me that I couldn't thoroughly enjoy this.
I didn't actually get their set list, but I believe I remember them playing the following:
Set (out of order):
Lycanthrope
Baby, Come On
Little Death
155
Weather Man
No It Isn't
Cliff Diving
Heart Stops Beating
Chapter XIII
Fall Out Boy
The stage was phenomenal-they had three screens behind them that had various images during the show. It began with a video on those screens and then the guys were catapulted up onto the stage. The show was filled with pyro, fireworks, and confetti, but the coolest thing was when the extra piece of stage that protruded out toward the audience flipped over to reveal a drum set, which allowed Andy to come down and play up close to the audience. Very refreshing.
The set list:
Thriller (Pyro)
Where Is Your Boy
Sugar (Pyro)
Our Lawyer (Pyro)
Gin Joints
Hum Hallelujiah (Pyro)----this was the best new song to hear live. I'm not really a fan of Infinity on High, but his was great live
[Slept With (pyro)
Patron Saints/ Nobody Puts]
Tell that Mick
Me and You
(Wardrobe Change)
Sixteen Candles (Pyro)
Beat It (Pyro)----this is a cover song
Carpal Tunnel------they played that friendly treehouse or whatever the website was video in the background
Golden---very cool to see Patrick on a keyboard
I Write Sins--This Ain't a Scene (Pyro)
(Exit stage)
Intermission-this is when Dirty did his hit me with a baseball thing. Much like Colorado, he came out in a KC Royals jersey and had three girls hit him with baseballs and they got the poster. Then he had the crowd shout "mother fuckin FOB."
Encore-
Thanx for the MMRs (Pyro)
Take Over the Breaks Over
Timbaland---this is when Andy went to the close drum set. Just Patrick and Andy were on stage.
Dance, Dance (Pyro)-Joe and Pete reemerge with their insturments out in the crowd. Dirty jumped out and danced.
Drum Solo
Saturday (Pyro)--Pete jumped into the crowd on this one.
Great show, but one warning from my experience in the front row: You can feel the heat of the flames, and try to know which songs they use Pyro on because it makes a loud boom, which can hurt your ears/startle you.
Again: I received the set lists of Cobra Starship, The Academy Is... and FOB, so all those songs are in order.
