When Panic! came out, everyone said they sounded like FOB. But with Thanks For the Memories... FOB are practically copping Panic!. and on the new album, they have God in nearly every song, another Panic! rip-off... yet I guess it doesn't matter, I'm not a big fan of either.

a few months into the future... im working on an album right now. i mean i have two songs up, one's a little interlude thing with piano and computer drums, and the other is an acoustic song thats alright but gets pretty repetitive. you can listen to those at www.myspace.com/theunitedstatesofengland (http://www.myspace.com/theunitedstatesofengland) if you want but they're definitely not a good representative of what the album will sound like.

What I have to ask you guys, though, is why you hate these bands so much. The sounds that they make is what they want to create, whether you like it or not. I do realize and know that there are a ton of bands out there who have way more talent than these signed bands, but the point I'm trying to make here is that the band likes how they sound and their fanbase likes it, too. If you don't, what's the point of continuously flaming them?

Their labels enjoy the music, or at least wants a band with that sound on their roster- if they didn't, then the band simply wouldn't be signed. Yes, I do realize that there are a ton of bands that 'deserve' to be signed, but what good music is really is subjective and only an opinion; show some of the bands you love to the fans of the bands you hate and they'll probably dislike your bands, while you still continue to hate theirs.

I congratulate the bands for how far they've gotten, because it's what they have 'aimed for.' Whether they sound good or not, I appreciate the efforts that they have given because of their passion, whether it be a ton of effort or not much at all.

If you can't be happy for them, then don't be angry if someone ever thinks your work or your job or whatever you do sucks. Even if you hate what they do, it's what they want to do. i just listened to some of 'the sophomore attempt,' and i have to say that i do think they sound a lot better than ciwwaf; but it's not the band's fault that they got signed, that was a decision that fueled by ramen made. i'm trying to be objective here.

The songs don't make the show. By that token, a band who is really good can go on and sleepwalk through the show and it was a good show just cause the songs are good. I've seen it. I don't buy it. So live energy is another point in favor of a band, just like, say, fun-ness. So much pop-punk music sucks in comparison to actual brilliant music, but people will listen to it cause it's fun. Well, TDWP aren't impressive on cd, but at their live shows, they have energy. That doesn't make the cd/songs any better, just like being fun/well-produced/whatever doesn't make a cd or song really better, but for me, it's still a valid reason.

that band tries to do what fall out boy does and fails. "cutely clever" one-liners, that don't even really go together, but are witty enough that it doesn't really matter. i don't care for fall out boy at all(save some songs), but they pull it off WAY better than ciwwaf ever will.

I know I'm going to be hurting after the raping I recieve after I post this, but:
-FOB (A close second for most hated)...which I agree with completely-I enjoy their music when it comes from my iPod (especially when it was recorded before Cork Tree), but not when it's live. And Pete should not be allowed to touch a bass guitar or be permitted to speak into a microphone.
-CIWWAF (most hated)...which I'm not sure I really agree with. I can see why people dont like them, but they are one of my favorite bands and I'll defend them to the death.

Agreed. Sometimes there's subtle voice cracks but I think that adds to the charm o the album. He use to sound like shit live, but now he sounds pretty good thanks to his vocal distortion pedal.
