I've decided, what used to be my favorite "classic" genre, Film Noir, has been replaced by a new one. Screwball comedy. I strongly recommend everyone checks out any of these classics:
The Philadelphia Story
The Awful Truth
Adam's Rib
The Thin Man
His Girl Friday
My Man Godfrey
The Thin Man
The Lady Eve

i was a male war bride
Solid list of movies.
The Philadelphia Story, while an amazing movie in itself, automatically is bumped into another level of awesomeness simply for having the two best actors ever in it.
His Girl Friday is great as well. People thought the movie would be a disaster because they felt audiences couldn't handle the characters constantly talking over each other.
I also must mention Bringing Up Baby, The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer, Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House... Etc. And you can't mention Stewart movies without mentioning the flawless Harvey.
And I guess you really like The Thin Man?
Damn, I'm at work and now I just want to go home and watch Cary Grant movies.

I've never heard of any of those. :-( What should I start with?

I'd recommend staying away from Bringing Up Baby by any means necessary. Possibly the most overrated movie ever made.

And I will 100% disagree.

I completely disagree about Bringing Up Baby being overrated as well.

Wasn't there a movie called "Screwballs"?
Yes, but that was more of a Porkies type of movie. But that's not really a screwball comedy, more of a "Shitty 80's Perverted But Without Being Sexually Explicit Enough To Be Enjoyed For Said Perverse Reasons" comedy. I think that's actually what it's listed under in Blockbuster.

I saw Arsenic and Old Lace the other day. Hilarious. Plus you can't go wrong with Peter Lorre.

I love that movie. Although Cary Grant said that was definitely the least favorite of any of his movies.
