Maxim Afinogenov

Tonight while watching the Sabres/Sens game with some guys I played with in the past we started talking about Maxim Afinogenov. I stated that Afinogenov reminds me a lot of Pavel Bure just without the big numbers. When he skates he looks a lot like Bure and makes many of the flashy moves that Bure would pull in tight spaces. He does seem to come back into the defensive zone more than Bure and plays the body much more than Bure but of the recent crop of NHLers I feel he most reminds me of the Russian Rocket who I used to love watch play. I don't what other people feel, maybe those who see more Sabres games than me have a stronger feeling about this.

The entire Buffalo Sabres team destroys in NHL07. Afinogenov and Roy might be the fastest guys in the game.

roy is a 97 and max is a 95 i think



Elias is a 96 and Gionta is a 94. somehow they made brylin (91) faster than gomez (89)

Yeah I used to tear it up on Live with the Sabres. Then everyone bitched about it so I played with Boston since they have so many rightys and I can snipe top tits every shot with a righty.

Eventually I had to stop playing because I get so frustrated and it leads to broken controllers and tvs.

I usually play as the Devils in NHL07 because Gionta burns basically everyone.

If there's one team that sucks in NHL 07 it's the Thrashers. Slowest team in the game.

He might have the speed of Bure, but he cannot finish, which has ben his problem since he has been in the league.

He most likley would have been over 80 points had he been able to complete the season.
Only got 8 minutes of ice last night though, him and vanek were not good.

Afinoganov is similar to Bure in that they are both very fast and very good puck handlers but can just disappear at times, he is a damn good player and if he had a little better finish as Tambo said he could be a consistent 45-50 goal scorer.

agree with tambo and grimson. bure was a deadly sniper, maxim has a little too much of the nylander 'oh maybe i'll spin around 42 times instead of shooting' in him. but he's still a great talent.

Maxim Afinogretzky destroys in NHL 07.

I have him on my dynasty team in NHL 04 (still my favorite hockey game in a while so I stick with it), and he's an absolute monster about 3 years into dynasty.
