Gay "Civil-Unions"

I can understand not approving of gay marriage. But what about civil unions? It is the same as a marriage legally, but the church is not involved in any way, shape, or form.

Right now Vermont is the only state to allow this union. Discuss.

Civil unions should be allowed but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. Now this isnt advertised or promoted but the fact is there are people that are gay and the world has to accept and treat them fairly. Civil Unions are ok in my book because its not like they change much and they do encourage only having one other partner and will slightly reduce the spread of Aids. the next topic is gays adopting kids... This child is in for a lifetime of teasing.

However marriage is different to me, its more of a religious thing and a man and a man or woman and a woman getting married just doesnt fit lol no pun intended.

I think gay people have every right to be married just like straight people. It's not our place to pass judgement on someone else's living styles. They can't help it who the fall in love with so why should we stop them from following their hearts. I know it's not natural but if that's how they feel then so be it. If this happened then gay marriages would spread like a forrest fire. Right now the gay community is like a secluded commodity that doesnt interfere with us. Once they are allowed to marry you would see more and more gay couples as the years go by. Then by the time I raise a child someday it would be so popular that it might seem like its normal for two men to get married. Right now we know that a man and a woman are SUPPOSED to fall in love...get married...and create life of their own. There shouldn't be a second option. Look at the big picture.
I have met a number of gay people and have gotten along with them rather well...I wont lie and say I wasnt uncomfortable because I was. In fact I was hooking up with a chick once who had a gay friend...the guy thought I was hot and told this girl she better watch out she has competition. Whether he was joking or not I still got angry and defensive and I guess thats just my own ignorance.
My point is that gay people are going to be gay no matter what...I hope the life they lead is fullfilling for them...I think the point of life is to learn everything as you go about it and then create another life of your own and pass your knowledge onto your own flesh and blood that you created. They will never experience that miracle. They definately shouldn't be allowed to adopt under any circumstances. Regardless of how much they love that child it will not lead an easy life. I couldnt even fathom such a thing.

Everyone has a right to an opinion. Noone has the right to pass judgement on another person. You may not like what someone else says or does but you have to respect the right they have to do it unless they are injuring someone else (I'm talking physically here), so I will state my opinion here. I have absolutely no problem with homosexual marriage in any sense. Studies have proven that most animals engage in homosexual sex to curb the population. Saying the homosexual population is a secluded commodity that doesn't interfere with "us" (us supposedly being the heterosexual community) is like saying that the sun is a secluded commodity that doesn't interfere with the earths orbit. okay, stupid comparison but it's all i've got. Saying that the miracle of life is not possible for couples of the same gender does not look at the big picture of test tube babies and in-vitro fertilization using frozen sperm or a female willing to carry a baby that isn't hers for nine months. I also doubt that any children up for adoption (knowing many) would be glad for anyone to love them as their own child, regardless of that persons private (and yes, sexual preference is VERY private) life. Sorry if this post makes no sense, I couldn't seem to organize my thoughts into anything of substance.

Animals show homosexual tendancies not to retard population growth, but because they are horny. They want to get off. That is why dogs hump your leg...they arent attracted to your leg, they just want to get off. I mean that same male animal who humps another male animal will turn around and hump a tree, then turn around and hump a female animal. Why would a species program something for population control? I mean of course in this day and age, thats not a bad thing for humans, but our bodies are not programmed for today, we are programmed for thousands of years ago. Same with animals. I think that adoption would be the best solution but nobody seems to care. And about the screwed up family life, who are you to judge what kind of family life is abnormal? Is divorce abnormal? Is living with a mom who dates abnormal? I think that living in a heterosexual household where one partner did not love the other would be more damaging than in a homosexual household where there was mutual respect and love. As for the degrading animal comment, humans are little more than glorified apes and it would benefit you to get off your pedestal and humble yourself every once in awhile. And homosexuals tending to stay together is something that makes total sense. If you were of the minority (which you are, in at least one area) you would want to search out others like you. I see where you are going...but simply look at the numbers...how much of the US is gay? Anywhere from 6-10% of the population... how much of the US population has a religion that derives from Christianity? Majority rule, it even says it in the constitution.

I still go back to the simple notion that men cannot reproduce with other men, women cannot reproduce with other women. Men are not supposed to be attracted to men and women arent supposed to be attracted to women. Its the way that nature works, so why mess with that?

Who are you to say who I or anybody else is "supposed" to be attracted to. Yes, men cannot produce a biological child with other men and women cannot produce a biological other women, that is nature. But nature also creates monsoons, tornados, tidal waves, etc. thereby negating that the way that nature works is always good.
