I went to the early show of the Minus the Bear/Honorary Title/Chin Up Chin Up show at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago, IL. For the early show, Chin Up didn't play.

The Honorary Title kicked off the show, and they didn't seem too happy about it. The singer called us all senior citizens, because a lot of the sold-out crowd was bored. They played a lot of new songs, and since I'm not a huge fan by any means, I'll put down the songs that I know that I remember.

Bridge and Tunnel
Everything I Once Had
Points Underneath

After a short break in between bands, Minus the bear started setting up. As a huge guitar geek, I almost peed my pants when I saw them bring in the pedal boards and all the equipment. Minus the Bear has been one of my favorites for years, but this was my first time seeing them, and I think they might have been the best live band I've seen. They kept the banter short, and played for about an hour and 10 minutes. They played:

1) Women We Haven't Met Yet
2) The Game Needed Me
3) Fulfill the Dream
4) Let's Play Clowns
5) Dr. L'Ling
6) "TZ"
7) The Fix
8) Ice Monster
9) Throwin' Shapes
10) Drilling
11) Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!
12) Knights
13) Pachuca Sunrise

The first time I saw them, I wasn't expecting much but they really are amazing live. I wish that tour was coming here but hopefully next tour they will swing through Florida. How was the venue for that show? I went there for a show in October and there were like 50 people and I can't imagine it being packed and it not being miserable.

Damn, no Let's Play Guitar in a Five Guitar Band. At Least they played Absinthe Party though.

The venue was the Beat Kitchen, which has a max. capacity of shy under 300. It sold out a few weeks before the show, but from what I heard, a lot of people didn't show up because they sneaked into the later show. It was pretty packed though, and very hot, but I was up against the stage so I was just fine.
