They're sponsored now and are called It's Gosu E-Sports but before that their name was ONE and that's just what I know them by. Here is a news article about them with their roster.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=241159

It's for PTGL qualifiers.

Oh dang, I didn't realize their roster. I guess I haven't stayed up to date with this. Few names stand out to but I've played this guy in 1's and 2's, NamhciR. I'm pretty sure he was #1 in the world on the ladder for a while or at least close. I don't know where he sits now but he's good (like I'm sure all of them are).

Good luck, you'll need it hahaha.

Side note, just because they're pros doesn't mean you don't have a chance. Of all the pros I've played the only one who flat out stomped me was EGMachine. I made the mistake of trying to all in him in ZvZ and was punished for it. All-ins typically aren't too effective against pro's in tournaments because they're anticipating a darkhorse trying to take a cheap shot for an easy win. Of course, the longer you macro the higher their chance of winning so it's pretty much a lose-lose situation, haha.

Hehe yeah. The way the league is formatted is each team picks a champion and three challengers. The three challengers from both teams play the champions in a bo1 so you end up with six games there. The champion gets to veto two maps from the map pool and the challenger gets to pick the map they play on. Then the two champions play three games so you end up with nine games total. Because it's qualifiers you play all nine games even if the other team gets five wins, it's for points in the event of ties and stuff. Their first match they used HwangSin as their champion, and I'm one of the challengers for my team. So I'll get to play him once in a PvP and he's playing from Korea, so my plan is depending on his vetos to play him on Tal'Darim and play a three stalker build to deny a 4 gate and then transition into Blink off three gates and hope I can out micro him cause of the KOR -> NA latency.

I think latency will be the only way we won't get 9-0'd haha. Their challengers are all like really high Masters or Grand Masters and our team is just an amateur Master's clan so our champion will probably lose all his games in the challenger phase depending who they send unless he plays out of his mind lol. It will be good experience whatever ends up happening.

well today was a good day. unfortunately I joined a custom game to adjust my settings after coming home tonight and then realized I botched my chances at a perfect match history screen lol. don't think I will ever win 10 games in a row again.

Well in the lower levels I don't really think it matters. I guarantee you you could win like 80% of your games in the lower leagues by playing defensively and simply having more stuff than your opponent no matter what it is. Always try to keep your minerals under 500 and gas isn't really all that hard to spend.

im so pissed right now. i played my season three placements and im in all silver, i swear i should be higher. at least gold. in my team games im always the one carrying the team, and in my random 3v3 placement we got rush, i managed to save on of my allies, but they both ended up tying in a few mins, then i was the only one left, and i gave a pretty good fight. i lost the game, but it was basically a 3v1 and i had the highest score.

EDIT: but the new maps are awesome. so ill forgive blizzard.

If you deserve to be higher you'll get it fast from just playing. Placement can't offset mmr regardless of win/loss

^^ Jumpoff speaks truth. Season one I was stuck in diamond despite playing against all masters and winning 70% of the time. As soon as season 2 opened up and masters had slots available I played on game and got put in. It wasn't the placement match that got me into it, I could've lost and still got in. My MMR was so high from all my games which is got me into it. And 3's and 4's can be fun but if you're going to play them be prepared for 10 pools and 6 minute mark attacks. I started out liking 3's and 4's the most but eventually realized how dumb they are (high level metagame for them was all the same). The same could be said about 2's, but I felt that 2's was more competitive because there was a greater sense of team play. Any rush build could be countered instead of 3's and 4's where its "oh, i got double 10 pooled. hope the rest of my teams rush can take out a player too" So basically what I'm trying to say here is do 2's. It has the fun of team games but still competitive like 1's :) So much more fun imo, and it's totally possible to win 2v1's if they rush your ally and you just macro up. "double 10 pool my ally? Well I just took a 15 hatch and have double the total harvesters. GL."

KenneyBN
07/27/11, 11:59 AM
yeah its true, sometimes 4v4 are really repetitive. whenever my team mates are like "6min rush?" and i reply with "no, thats lame"... they all just call me a noob.
but yeah i like playing 2v2 a lot more than 4s and 3s. I think they take a lot more thought, because in 4v4 you can pretty much do whatever build you want without even scouting at all. What league are you guys in?

ps, @de1337ed i find your avatar really distracting because that girl is gorgeous lol.

I have a story.

My favorite player since Day9's king of the beta has been Tester / sSKS / Ki Soo / Trickster and whatever else you guys may know him by. I remember watching him qualify and play in the 2009 OSL for Brood War where he went 0-3 in his group and thought nothing of him. When I first saw him play in the SC2 beta I didn't even make the connection at first. But he was the first Brood War pro I watched playing Starcraft II and he completely blew me away. It was the first time I said out loud to myself "holy shit I can't believe he just did that" and because he plays Protoss like I do he has been my favorite progamer ever since.

Two weeks ago I think, he posted on twitter asking if anyone had a North American account he could use. I responded and he gave me his e-mail address and I sent him the information to a smurf account I used to offrace with that was in Diamond. He logged into it a few hours later and I was like "holy shit Tester is on my account". He ended up using it to play in the IPL 3 Qualifiers. So last Friday rolls around and I went to my friend's apartment to watch MLG on his big screen TV. As we were waiting for Tester's set against DRG we logged on Battle.net and my friend asked me if I left my computer on because my smurf was on. Then we realized it was Tester! He was laddering to warm up and lost to shit Zerg player who all inned him with Zerglings. I felt really really guilty all of a sudden. Tester was about to play one of the very best Zerg players in the entire world and he lost to some shitty diamond player because he was warming up on my account, I could only imagine what that did to his psyche. But who knows, maybe he left cause he got called to the stage or some other reason like that. Maybe the hurricane dropped him from battle.net, who knows. I should have let him play on my Master's account, not that there is a difference between a NA Diamond Zerg and a NA Master Zerg when compared to DRG but maybe it would have eased the pain. Anyways we messaged him saying "good luck against DRG, Ki Soo!" and he responded saying "thx :D", which is kind of funny because if you've ever seen the look he always has on his face it's hard to see him using the ":D" emoticon.

So Tester wins against DRG and that was cool. The next day before his match against Hero they showed Tester waiting on the side stage and logging into Starcraft. My smurf logged on again and then logged off after a minute before going onto his account MLG gave him. I thought that was cool, Tester has my account information memorized! Tester ended up playing poorly, only winning his series against DRG and Hero and lost to the likes of TLO, Slush, Demuslim and I think Select? I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for my favorite player's poor showing at his first international tournament. Maybe if he wasn't warming up on the Diamond NA server he would have played better. Over the course of Day 1 and Day 2 of MLG he played about 25 games on the ladder and had three losses, two from leaving right away (probably was called to play his match) and the Zergling game. I know he hasn't really been playing up to his beta fame since the Code S system was introduced to the GSL in January, but Slush and TLO... come on. :( On the other hand though, I don't know how many people can say that their favorite progamer unlocked a melee portrait on one of their accounts and got to briefly exchange words with them minutes before a huge match, that's fucking awesome.

That's my story. Sorry it's long. KI SOO FIGHTING

This thread has long been forgotten! But sick story.

I quit playing league of legends a month or so ago and have started to play again. Unfortunately school makes it next to impossible to put the kind of hours I used to put in. I had to replace for season 4 with 5 placement matches and was put into platinum. I've been fighting my way up but I don't think I'm quite ready for diamond. Strategically I still feel like a masters level player...but mechanically...I am terribly rusty. Just now I lost a ZvZ because I mismicroed 7 banelings into a queen. Had to GG at the counter attack. Now season 4 is almost over and I'll probably still be in plat with less than 30 games played this season. Kinda depressing to think that I've only had time for 1 game every other day on average >.<

anyway, that's my not so sick story. haha.

Yeah that is still my one gripe with this game... is the amount of time you have to dump into it to remain half decent. I think the longest I have gone without playing since I got my beta invite has been three or four days. I try to play at least an hour a day in between classes or before I goto bed on days I'm busy just so I can stay mechanically in shape. I could only imagine how hard it would be to get back into the swing of things after missing an entire season and a half.

Good to see you are playing again though. I was sad after this thread died and thought I was the only person still playing who posts on this site lol.

So, I'll be honest, I cleared my friendslist of everyone and only have my fellow CSL teammates on it now. So whats your guys id+char codes?

And I guess for me the thing that made me stop playing wasn't the amount of time it took, it was just that I was finding it hard to stay competitive when I was playing less than I normally did. Normally I only laddered 5 hours a week but in October I found this girl and over the course of a few months I found myself playing even less than that. So I switched to league because I felt I could be more casual with it. My brother did the same thing and it turns out both of us ended up getting to be 1700-1800+ elo and we realized we weren't casual with the game anymore and it was taking up more time than either of us had ever thought it would. So, I figure now I'm just going to switch back to starcraft and it'll be less time consuming and even if I never get back to being as good as I used to be, I'll at least have fun knowing I'm in control of my game instead of carrying 4 people and still losing. I was never the greatest at 1v1's though and Ill be doing 1v1's exclusively now so I'm fairly confident I'll eventually get to be as good as I used to be in 1's. We'll see, but I only have around 250 total ladder 1v1's played so it won't take much to rival that number and get back to where I was *crosses fingers*

I'll be honest though, HotS? ....mehhhh. I'm sure I'll like it a lot more once I get my hands on it (I originally hated sc2 beta as well). I guess my biggest quarrel is I'm legitimately pissed for every protoss player with the removal of the carrier. Battlecruiser was considered UP and what does blizzard do? buffs it. Carrier is considered UP and what do they do? They've left it untouched since beta. It's already effectively been removed and I'm sure the only reason it was ever released in WoL was so it didn't hurt sales. Taking out the iconic protoss unit though is blasphemy. I can't speak much for terran changes but zerg changes I'm kinda meh on. The locust seems pretty cool but I really love my overseers. Swarm hosts I'm not a fan of. I love broodlords so I don't see the advantage in getting swarm hosts unless they are tier 1.5 or something. Ultra underground charge seems sweet and I hope that it is enough to make ultras worth getting other than the typical max brood tech switch max ultras.

so i don't understand how to change from silver->gold-> etc.

i'm currently high platinum, and i have done a few playhem tourneys and i have beaten several master-league players. when i matchup against diamond, i win probably 3/4 of the time. and my "placement" match today i played vs a platinum terran (ZvT is my WORST matchup by far) and i watched the replay and i had a 20 food lead at about 7 minutes. I do not understand how I can move up rank. I ended up with like 8 bases to his 3, and was never threatened once.

also, i may be irrational right now -- but i feel that toss is so god damn overpowered. archons vs zerg = gg.

roaches? = archons counter
hydras? = archones counter
infestors? = charge zealots, really fucking hard to fungal, also, psi storm
muta? = archons counter
lings? = archons counter
brood lords = extremely difficult to tech to when toss can just drop zealots in base.

actually, shit, psi storm is the fucking hard counter to everything in the game. ughhghghghghg

Nothing wrong with wanting to be the infamous 1%. I could do one of my rambles but when I read your post I thought of this thread I found a month or two ago. It's not like that for every player, but it does give you an idea of what you should be working on depending on where you're at

glad you fixed it. other things that come to my mind when stuff like that happens are anything that runs in the background. windows updates can lag out your computer and if you don't minimize to see the warning tab it will actually restart your computer completely. that's happened to me in a ladder match before >.< also norton and other virus software can slow you down if you have scheduled scans. There are also scheduled defrags which I never knew my computer was set up to do. It apparently never caused me problems until the other week I was streaming and my computer was struggling to handle streaming + sc + defrag. so basically if that ever happens again just try to make sure that you don't have any auto-updates or scheduled tasks going in your background.

random note: this winter break i flew out to visit my family and girlfriend which is great but it also means my desktop is 1500 miles away and I have no hope of playing starcraft until next week >.< i think i'm only bothered by this because i had less than 30 games played last season from being so busy and now i'm on break and have lots of time.

I'm not bad at the game and I spend a lot of my free time playing it, so it has nothing to do with it being too difficult or me not liking it.

A perfect example of what I'm talking about is what they do with their map pool. Their maps are god awful and when they include GSL maps they do things like butcher Tal'Darim to death making PvP impossible to play on it. I have to veto it just because of one match-up even though it's a really good PvZ and PvT map. Then they release a poll asking what GSL map players want to see in season 7 and half of their list is comprised of maps that aren't in the GSL pool anymore or are being taken out next season. Calm Before the Storm only lasted one season because of how anti-Zerg it was and now Blizzard is considering adding it into their ladder pool lol.

Sometimes I think Dustin Browder is just trolling the hell out of everybody and doesn't take his job seriously.
