Lyrics to a song I'm currently working on the music for. Try to guess the underlying theme. It was written by looking up what you call certain groups of birds (i.e. a parliment of owls; a murder or [i]congress of crows). This is my first submission here, so rip me a new one.

"A Parliament of Owls"
by Andrew Donovan
A parliament of owls decides their fate.
The wisest of wise, sit, deliberate.
A parliament of owls can not wait.
They push to kill, to eliminate.

And a sparrow cries from the gallows.
To awaken the robins and swallows.
"There's been a murder here!"
"A murder of slings and bows."
"There's been a murder here!"
"'A murder of vultures and crows."

A congress of crows decides their fate.
The wicked and wise, sit, deliberate.
A congress of crows that can not wait.
They move to kill, to discriminate.

And a sparrow cries from the gallows.
To awaken the robins and swallows.
"There's been a murder here!"
"A murder of slings and bows"
"There's been a murder here!"
"A murder of vultures and crows."

"A murder of crows... a murder, a congress, a murder of crows!"
"A colony of gulls!"
"A siege of harons!"
"A cast of falcons"
"A squadron of pelicans!"
"A company of parots!"
"A conspiracy of ravens!"
"And a flight of swallows..."

i think you touched on a decent idea, but then ruined it with a bad approach. i think that the weird names for groups of birds could've made an interesting song, but it's like you just decided to list them. i mean, a parliament of owls, a congress of crows? those groups (at least in the song) serve the same function. i mean, the song really is just two choruses and then you list all the groups of birds that you know. you had the beginnings of some clever wordplay and then you ruined it by smacking us in the face with all the weird group names you know at the end.

the rhyming is childish, the overall theme is one of violence (something that is DONE DONE DONE TO DEATH). you should rework this song, forget all you've written here and just start with the "parliament of owls" thing at the beginning.
