Anyway, you've got Zakk Wylde for sure, Alexi Leiho, the majority of people in the metal scene are brilliant. Then we have people like Hendrix, Paige, Clapton and Richards who are brilliant songwriters as well as guitarists. There's so many different styles and so many different answers for each one. One of my personal favorites is Jason Camacho from Audio Karate.

Say what you want about Thomas Erak's real guitar skills (if you are a guitarist and you don't think he's that good, great!), I don't know another guitarist out there that can make a complicated riff sound so melodic and soothing EVERY TIME. And he throws these into verses, solos, choruses, intros, breakdowns in Manipulator now too, doesn't matter.
And I am still in awe that he could write and perform songs like The Last March of the Ents or Mouths Like Sidewinder Missles or Reassurance Rests in the Sea when he was 16/17.

I really don't see what's great about these guitarists. I agree they're a solid band but their guitarwork is anything but creative or original.

No there'es a difference between fangirl and a listner who happends to be female.
When people say "omgiggle Thom Erak is liek so fcken gewd at teh guraitre he plays liek he is being chazed by a commet" it's more than likely a younger listner who just got into the band. I don't mind tho a complimant to the band is always good.
Whoever said you shouldn't be allowed to listen to them is dumb tho. I don't see why people care what other people listen to.
Oh and my vote goes to Nick from Tera Melos. I couldn't find his last name.

haha i just realized that i had posted three times about the same person---probably why someone would think i was a fangirl. no, im not definitely. i bet if a guy said what i said it would sound like a compliment but of course it sounded like i was an ignorant, crazed listener.
totally not, i just wanted to give the guy appreciation, but it ended up being blow into something totally misperceived.

Good pick. I think it's sort of subtle how good they are.
Nick from Tera Melos
Omar from The Mars Volta
Keller Williams and everyone from that scene.

80% of the people named in this thread are no where near good enough to be considered 'sick.' And Tom Erak is alright, but he has no variation in what he plays. Any guitarist can sound like FOT with a delay petal and some simple hammer-ons.

you can't really compare to the metal and classic rock group to today's scene. theyre all about the guitar riffs and stuff, whilest the best we see in todays music is like thomas erak, who is great, but nothing comparable to like zappa, zeppelin, and hendrix
lol @ all the people saying the guy from fall of troy

Tom Morello is my favorite, he hasn't been playing like blazing leads since rage, but he's still good. Between the Burried and me's guitarists are really really good, i hate the music but they are very skilled. And yeah Dweezil is amazing, you gotta be good when Steve Vai teaches you how to play.
