The reason behind the nominal fee is to keep people from doing it on a whim so that Jason is not burdened by that chore and can focus on the site instead of changing user names.

I'm considering waiving the fee. I understand the average American is hurting right now. Americans cannot afford another "tax" when they are already facing the skyrocketing cost of energy, housing, tuition rates, healthcare, etc....We need a solution. Perhaps an open season period once a year when users can change their name. This way the admins don't have to waste time every day changing names based on people's whims. WIN/WIN.
