Don't drink soda. Lots of water so you don't get dehydrated.

if yer gettin merch, bring a comfy backpack, and two or three buds. that way if anyone (or two) want to go in a pit, or stagedive or anything, the others' got the stuff.

CountMeOut923

just drink water all day and make sure to eat something. it's a long day, so don't tire yourself out by 5 PM. Try to get some shade when you can so you don't roast out there from the sun.

i agree with the water idea. but its expensive for bottled water. so make sure u have some extra cash reserved to fuel your body with the much needed water.

at my warped spot...they have several spickets around so you can just fill up your bottle for free

antonioror20

like.. what about the crowds and stuff..
like the people im going with are annual attendees..
i tend to get killed in crowds..

avengedtbs
06/03/07, 11:38 AM
its more than likely going to be really hot so while in the crowds...youre going to have a lot of sweat on you, some of yours and some of everyone else standing around you

06/03/07, 11:39 AM
you are going to have fun at warped. i go every year.

-drink lots of water (some venues have spickets to fill water for free)
-bring lots of money for merch
- never go into a pit alone.
-bring lots of friends
-dress comfortably.
have fun.

Try to figure out where all the stages are when you get there. I like to then find out who is playing when and figure out who I'm going to see so I don't miss anyone on mistake. Then for the rest of the day I run from stage to stage all day long.

dont eat or drink anything before 1 PM. this way your body is already sweating and halfway dehydrated and thus all the water you drink will get processed immediately and you can avoid using the port-a-johns (which is a truly horrendous experience)

wear sunblock. my first year my head got horribly sunburned.

hide a bottle of water in your towel so you can get more than one in. do not buy any food or drinks from vendors, they rip you off.

beware pits- some can get very VERY violent

plan your bands out ahead of time if you cant, so you can be sure to see who you wanna see and not get stuck elsewhere. the sets are only 20 minutes, so its easy to miss things.

avengedtbs
06/03/07, 02:42 PM
suprisingly...every year i go, the bands i wanna see are conviently playing at separate times so i have minimal conflicts

Best advice anyone could give.

My first warped was amazing... While it lasted. I got pushed/dragged/pulled into a pit, and i ended up leaving warped early cause i dislocated/sprained/broke my elbow. I don't remember which one it was, but i fucked up that elbow, it hurts everytime it rains now.

i remember seeing silverstein in 04 at warped with no more than 150 people there...i was right up against the barrier and the lead singer kept jumping into the crowd...the pit was amazing...one of the best experiences of my life

xJangsterrx
06/03/07, 02:57 PM
i haven't really had good pit experiences now that i think about it. I went with my friend to a sum 41 and (i can't believe i'm saying this) good charlotte concert back in eigth grade, and that's the concert where i got picked up to go crowd surfing but then they dropped us, i actually went into a pit willingly, but i crakced two or three ribs in the process.

Then later that year i went with a different friend to a green day and mcr concert and that was not pretty, let me tell you that.

Ouch, i've never broken my nose, but i've gotten a bloody nose by running into a plexi-glass wall in a glass/mirror house. And i've taken soccer balls and basket balls to the face before.

- Buy a Camelback. Best purchase I've ever made.
- Drink tons of water the day before, and make sure you refill the Camelback.
- Wear shorts. Don't try to be scene and wear jeans. Board shorts suggested.
- White shirt, tank-top, or no shirt at all.
- Sun screen
- Find shade
- Use the mist tent wisely.
- Collect free stuff
- Bring tons of money for merch
- Don't feel like you have to stand close to the stage, just watch and enjoy where you have room to breathe.
- Enjoy yourself.

hailthewarrior
06/03/07, 03:08 PM
seriously. i have so many mix label cd's, stickers, and other random crap from warped. also love the free posters you can snag from about anywhere.

- also, get there early as possible, to map out set-times and stages

avengedtbs
06/03/07, 03:11 PM
yeah...the stages are always the same at my stop...so that hasnt been a problem for me...and we get there about 4 hours before doors so we are usually one of the first hundred or so in there

hailthewarrior
06/03/07, 03:16 PM
I seriously suggest the Camelback, though. It's perfect. I took it to Cornerstone and it saved my life.

And I'm going to a different city this year for Warped, so I'm hopin' things are changed too much.

yeah. and the pits only get massive for certain bands (less than jake sticks out the most in my mind), there's usually more than enough room to see fine and still be away from the pits.

hahah if you want merch you might as well bring like 50 bucks becuase water itself is 3 bucks a bottle. but yeah wear a white shirt (you dont want dark colors to absorb sunlight), shorts (jeans/pants can get REALLY fucking hot when you're sandwiched between all those people), and dont wear flip flops (your feet will get torn up if you do.) put on sunscreen, seriously, if you burn bad.

and if this is your first show, also a warning: do not go in the front if you're at all claustrophobic. if you're on one of the main stages, when the band comes on you need to put your forearm on the back of the person in front of you so you have space to breathe, and if you're not a big person, you pretty much wont be able to stand up straight as the group of people is being collectively pushed in different directions (away from the bars/stage and away from the mosh pit), so get used to just stumbling around a lot. dont worry though the front's not that bad after you've gone in once and know what it's like up there.

theguy77
06/03/07, 07:44 PM
oh and dont bring any water or stuff like that with you, they dont alow drinks in and they will make you pour it out when you get to the gate. you have to spend the money inside for water.

In terms of where to stand to have a good view AND avoid injury, go to the front but off to the side. the farther away from the middle, the calmer it is(usually).

okay, I promised myself I wouldnt brag about this, but its just too cool for me to not do so haha...
anyone going to the Warped tour to see Poison the Well will be able to see my cousin Brad there...he's their touring guitarist now I guess haha.

wear shitty shoes that you don't care about getting ruined
shorts, not jeans
bring a change of clothes for afterward
drink lots of water
sunscreen is always a good idea.
if you dont mosh, or have a friend or 2 with you, bring a backpack. makes things easier
camera. you never know what you'll see there
keep cash on you and leave the wallet or purse in the car
cell phone. in case you lose your buddies. the venues for warped are huge
sleep well the night before
eat a solid breakfast before the show to last you all day. b/c the food is really expensive
goldbond in the car. you will understand why when the show is over.

I'm warning you, its get's EXTREMELY HOT! Do not wear heavy clothing, or even a black t-shirt, wear a light, white, or any light colored t-shirt or tank top, with shorts and flip flops. Basically, I know this may sound grose but wear as little and light clothing as possible. Also, drink a lot of cold drinks, wear loads of sunscreen ,and wear sunglasses...I'm telling you, you can get a heat stroke

In the Midwest they'll let you bring in water bottles but you have to throw away the caps, so I just bring extra caps in my pockets. Same for if you buy water bottles there. They throw out the cap so you have to chug it, but if you bring your own you can sip it.

Also, if you're front row the security might bring you ice if you ask nicely.

Pits aren't THAT bad. I was second row underoath and nothing bad happened except a few crowd surfers kicking me in the face.

of course drink water, and try to refill the same bottle to save money. but don't pound a bunch all at once. then you'll just have to pee all the time. drink at a slow steady rate so that you actually stay hydrated. make sure you see groups like the automatic, pepper, coheed. and check out some small groups on side stages too.

wear comfy shoes, eat, DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER, keep a cold wet cloth around your neck, get wet any chance you get(depending on how hot it is) and wear lots and lots of sunscreen.

All you need is sealed bottles of water (thats all most venues allow you to bring in), but dont worry cause you can refill them whereever

Money for merch

I usually get a can of beef jerky (Lowry's I believe) for like 4 bucks and munch on those throughout the day to keep me energized)

sunscreen of course

thats about it
