Looks like they are going a completely different way than the remake of 2000 Maniacs.

2001 Maniacs is and was billed as a sort of teen horror film, but then when people saw it they were outraged because... well, it was a remake of 2000 Maniacs and had the most insane gore of the last couple years. This looks to have the same amount of gore (gotta represent old H.G.) but takes a more serious route. Should be just as good.

i HATED 2001 maniacs. it was so painful to watch. i had such high hopes for it, but everything about it was horrible to me. and there's a sequel coming out, which it's a safe bet to say i'll be avoiding.

wizard of gore looks like it may work though. i love crispin.

but i still fucking hated it. i didn't like any of the characters, good or bad. i need to like at least one person to give a shit what happens.

In my opinion a film like Hostel which tries to work as a good movie, fails because all it employs is gore (and not enough) and boobs (and not enough). However, in 2001 Maniacs, I'm not sure you're supposed to give a shit about the characters or plot (just as in Herschell Gordon Lewis' films). I think you are supposed to just sit back, watch the boobs, laugh at it and enjoy the gore. I can see why you didn't like it though.
