This is AWFUL.

Transformers are all about power metal. Dragonforce should have been the entire soundtrack.

The Goo Goo Dolls were good until Iris.

Good song. They seem to know how to make a soundtrack song. Should be a hit.

You make yourself look like a tool every time you post.

a) This song is the theme to the relationship between the two HUMAN characters. Not the Transformers themselves. That IS fitting. Dragonforce is not.

b) Oh man, they were good until Iris, one of the most loved songs of the 90's. YOU'RE SO FUCKIN' PUNK MANN. FIGHT THE POWER.

I assume so, it's not on the (awesome) new album.

That just made my day.

Seriously, ill never quite understand why people still think its cool to hate bands based on nothing but their current level of popularity.

I dont like alot of mainstream music, but I have no problem admitting when I do. If I like a band that becomes popular they aren't gonna lose me as a fan unless they start doing something entirely different than the band I fell in love with in the first place. The Goo Goo Dolls still employ the same formula every time they release a new album. You've got a heavy majority of the disc with Rzeznik's trademark cant miss pop masterpieces vocals and a handful tracks sounding like late 80's metal meets early 90's pop punk sung by Takac. You'll never hear one of the Takac songs as a Goo Goo Dolls single and most people that don't own the albums have no clue he takes over lead vocals on some songs, but its good to see that they still are giving back to the fans that made them the success they are now. I honestly don't know many people who are GGD fans that dont just skip the fuck over his songs(because I can't stand his voice) but you have to admire the fact that they still do what they set out to do when they formed their band over 21(not a misprint) years ago.

fuck michael bay and fuck this movie.

let this be a lesson to everyone: never wish for your favorite childhood toy + tv show will be made into a live action movie. if you do, the movie will be made a decade and a half later and michael bay will direct it.

the fans: hey man, we saw some pictures and like, the transformers don't look right.

michael bay: YEAH WE MADE THEM BETTER. THEY WERE A LITTLE OUT OF DATE LOLZ

the fans: are you high? bumblebee isn't a camaro, he's a vw bug. also, megatron looks like a fucking gutted telephone box.

AMEN Brotha! I couldn't agree more. I hate Michael Bay for fucking up one of the best cartoon series' of my childhood. Even today those old episodes kick ass. BTW, the Goo Goo Dolls are consistent with the catchy jams. Not bad at all.

Seriously, ill never quite understand why people still think its cool to hate bands based on nothing but their current level of popularity. That's a hell of an assumption to make in this situation. "Iris" was, what, the second song they had ever done at that point that sounded the way it did? Perhaps the original poster (and try to follow me here) simply prefers how they used to sound compared to how they do now? Remember, the Goo Goo Dolls were already mainstream before "Iris" was released.

I had to turn the song off when I realized that it wasn't a cover of "You've Got The Touch."

Goo Goo Dolls? WTF? We need to get Dirk Diggler on this, ASAP.

(Also, Michael Bay is the preeminent auteur of blowing shit up on film working today. Transformers will be a masterpiece.)

I've personally always been a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls. I own every CD, with the exception of the first release, because it went out of print years ago and you can only find it on ebay once and awhile for an outrageous price.

They're a great band.

They put on a fantastic live show.

They played 2 shows back to back in Detroit in March, and I stood outside for 6 hours (in MI weather) both days, and was front row both nights. Two of the best shows of my life.

Hate all you want. Wow, they're successful now. So therefore they suck?

Whatever. I like them. The new song isn't AMAZING, but its good. Its a quality pop song that fits the character situation.

Yeah I probably missed the point of the original post. I just saw something I thought was Goo bashing and my defenses kicked in.

I guess its not fair to assume that people started disliking them because of the popularity of "Iris". Oddly enough it actually wasn't even their biggest across the board hit song. "Name" is the only song that hit #1 in 3 different radio formats (pop, modern rock, mainstream rock). It also was their highest charting song ever on the Hot 100 at #5 where as "Iris" only hit #9 and "Slide" hit #8.
