seriously...this is one of the few screamo bands I've heard that every song doesn't sound the same.

first seven or so songs hit you instantly as classic. it takes a while for the rest of the stuff to log itself into your memory.

Hes Luke Perry's cousin.

"fading away like the rest of them" is a fucking great song..

about the recs, if you like skramz you most probably know most of the ones you should be listening... but i dont know, maybe you'd like more melodic stuff like daitro, yage, yaphet kotto..

Quick skramz like Neil Perry? Not the same but try out some Orchid.

One of my favorite bands. I picked up the split with US the other day and I'm still peeing my pants about it.

Jenny Piccolo. Very much like the later songs on the discography (their early songs)

I never could get into Jenny Piccolo. It'd be easier to rec if you said whether it was the first few songs you liked the most or the other ones. Or even the entire thing as a whole, as they are all rather distinct types of music.

I have one 7" from them and I'm not TOTALLY crazy about it, but sometimes it's necessary when I want some 30 second bursts of blast beats and other forms of insanity. I'd take it over stuff like The Locust any day.

Haha, yeah. If I want the 30 second bursts though I'll turn to the other emoviolence bands. Palatka, In/humanity, etc.? I just think they did it better.

Well I liked it all, but I guess the first few songs wowed me the most.

Yeah, those are definitely better than their 'emo violence' phase.

Those first 7 are incredibly unique within the genre. Few skramz (meaning true Screamo) have singing within the same song as screaming (in fact, thats part of what makes it skramz) but what makes them truely unique is melding post-rock with hardcore, and etc. You can find post-rock elements in City of Caterpillar and Pyramids, off the top of my head. I think that pyramids is closer to Neil Perry, but both of them are pretty classic.

Edit : Yeah, try pyramids first. Its more similar, their album is uh, Following the tracks, Forcing etc?. You also may be interested in Circle Takes the Square and Saetia (as much as I hate recc'ing them, most people do enjoy them).

Yeah, I figured you already had heard at least one of them. Supposedly theres a heavy Slint influence on Neil Perry, you might give them a try. Its post rock, so I could never get into them, but they did a lot for that genre.

ha I like Slint too...Although I wouldn't really connect it to screamo... Although I guess the slower, brooding acts like City of Caterpillar would be similar.

I'm not sure, I just picked up that 7" yesterday for free. I think there's another 7" out, although I don't know if it's the same band or not.

EDIT: Appears they have a ton of releases. Slsk tossed up about 3 or 4 full-length releases.
