First Stanley Cup won by a California Team...First for some guys (Selanne, Pronger, etc.), Niedermayer (Scott) 2007 Conn Smythe...Great season and great playoff run...

...and you guys thought Buffalo can't be stopped. I'd thank Ottawa for that.

Congrats to the 2007 Anaheim Ducks!!!

...told you they were going to win.

you know what else is a first? Posting this in the NHL thread. No one's talked about it in there. You should give it a look-sy.

06/07/07, 09:12 AM
Is it just me or is the Cup bending in Burke's hands?

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 09:14 AM
It definately appears that way, he has some strong hands I guess...Leafs should sign him

bigmike
06/07/07, 09:16 AM
Wrong. Wings need his size at forward. Especially with that apparent strength. We'll snag him.

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 09:19 AM
Ive always wanted to see a Bertuzzi-Filuppa-Burke line

Burke and Bertuzzi should have some chemistry from being in Vancouver together

bigmike
06/07/07, 09:21 AM
Oh definitely. I hear Burke's got soft hands, just like Bert. It'd be unstoppable.

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 09:26 AM
Ill let you have Burke, you need an enforcer.

Now we wait for the picture of Snoop Dogg and the Cup to come out

bigmike
06/07/07, 09:28 AM
hahaha. Why is there a picture of an Atlanta jersey with the cup, regardless of who's wearing it? Someone get Jay Z in a Rangers jersey and let a franchise that actually matters be represented by a rapper that actually matters.

i watched this game at hooters yesterday with friends and i think it's really sad that anaheim won. I may live in California, but in no way do I believe a southern california team should be playing with ottawa and beat them. all the bros were so excited because it was the first time.

yikes.

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 11:04 AM
Does the city of Anaheim deserve a Cup winner? NO
Do the Anaheim Ducks deserve the Cup? YES

The better team won, thats what matters. Unfortunately they play where nobody gives a shit.

Brownpants06
06/07/07, 11:15 AM
who gives a shit.

but on a side note:

there are more canadian players on the ducks than sens, and any canadian hockey fan would much rather see the ducks win than the fucking senators.

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 11:40 AM
Oh ya you are the Canadian kid who stopped watching the Leafs because they got rid of Pat Quinn, makes complete sense.

i wouldnt say nobody gives a shit. they have a good fanbase, its just about big enough to fill the stadium.

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 11:49 AM
I mean a city as a whole, the cup should only go to places that can guarentee a riot on the streets after a win. There was a solid riot in 94 when Vancouver lost the Cup. If you cant guarentee violence, theft, disorderly conduct and maybe even a sexual assualt or two you dont deserve the Cup.

bigmike
06/07/07, 11:51 AM
Well, to be fair, Pronger won the cup so there's sure to be adultery.

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 11:52 AM
I think whatever team Ed Belfour is on should get the Cup every year, at least it would spice things up.

bigmike
06/07/07, 11:55 AM
Hahahaha. Or maybe Peter Worrell and Andreas Lilja. Bring in Belfour and Pronger, and that'd be a great celebration.

Mike Danton can be the bouncer at the door, Bob Probert can bring the drugs, Darren McCarty the beer and Rick Tocchet can run the blackjack table.

not that i normally like to encourage any personal problems but ed belfour should just be given alcohol and pills like everynight...

wait reality show that can save the nhl.

belfour, put him in a hotel, give him a ton of drugs and booze, get him loaded, spin him in a circle then send him into the banquet room up against the clerks, bellboys and about 6 police officers. whoever comes out alive after an hour gets a billion dollars. well it would be a weekley thing he would go from city to city.

Oh ya you are the Canadian kid who stopped watching the Leafs because they got rid of Pat Quinn, makes complete sense.

I followed the cup closely last year, and could care less this year. Since the lockout hockey is just losing interest.

Bettman is the worst commissioner in professional sports. He's such a god damn joke and is trying to build hockey markets in fucking kansas city or carolina or NASHVILLE rather than probably 4 Canadian cities I can think could support a NHL team. Not just support, but sell out.

NHL sucks.

As long as Ottawa lost i am fine with it. Another year passed for Alferdson.

Another good thing about the Ducks winning, is tha hopefully teams will see how they played and how their team was structured and try to mimic them. = better hockey.

sure, see how you enjoy 26 of the 29 minutes of sportscenter being hockey shoved down canadians throats with useless analysis and terrible "experts"

Damn right and thats the way I like it

StuGrimson
06/07/07, 04:49 PM
And actually sportscentre here is a lot less biased towards hockey than ESPN is towards football and not showing hockey. You get info on everything on TSN sportscentre...they will give you the highlights to every baseball and basketball and football game. So dont bitch about too much hockey, if you dont like it dont watch the first part of the show.
